Well i have a dumb question, I've been playing paintball for about 3 years now and just recently (3 moths ago) changed from C02 to HPA... now I heard you can fill your tank with either NITRO or COMPRESSED AIR... now Is there a difference here ? I thought Nitro was made up of about 80 or 85% of compressed air... ? also can you mix and match if there is a difference... say you have 100psi left and you wanna fill for the next game or something and in those 1000psi its NITRO... and at the field your playing on only has Compressed air... can you mix and match... ? and last but not least question... If there is a difference, do you have to keep (or is it recomended) the same air you always put... ? I know Im a newbie to HPA... I've only used my HPA tank two times... and filled at the same place with NITRO...

Good question.

From a theoretical chemical standpoint, there should be no reason you couldn't mix them... I don't know how that'd work out in the real world though.

Why would you need to do that? I know its pretty much just a theoretical situation but most places offer nitro, i dont know of anywhere in my area that doesnt.

they are almost the exact same thing i think. im pretty sure that nitro is pure nitrogen gas which makes up like 95% of our atmosphere or whatever. im pretty sure that compressed air is what u use in a scuba tank so it is also mostly nitrogen as well. dont worry about mixing and stuff u will be fine.

haha dat would be funny. u put compressed air into a half filled nitro, and the oxygen molecules and bonds break off and the nitrogen molecules bodn with the oxygen and all dat other crap to create some supergas, or even funnier, laughing gas....and then u get into a firefight and start crackin up like ur all high and etc. okay i'll shut up.
seriously tho...i think it'll work.

everyones like "i THINK it'll work, go try it!" lol i dunno i would think it would work too hehe ask the person filling the tank for you (if it should ever come up that you need to mix) i am 99.7% sure it owuld be fine because they are the same thing

If you think about it logically, why would it not work? You mix them and you end up with...compressed air (with extra nitro).

the air we breath is
75% nitrogen
20% oxygen
5% others
and so is compressed air
nitrogen is
50% nitrogen
45% oxygen
5% others
so there should not be any reason why youy can't mix them

Most places fill compressed air these days. Nitro is just the term we use, regardless of it's compressed air or not. And yeah, performance wise, theya re the exact same for all intents and purposes
