The old question, Tippmann vs. Spyder. I myself like the Tippmann better than most spyders cept the SE. Let me know what u think. Also I'm looking to upgrade my barrel on my tippmann 98, any suggestions? Lastly, have any of you polished the insides of the 98? If you have could u please tell me how?

Thx

Tippmann 98~ Bought 2 days ago, entirely stock

If your keepin the barrel at a low cost buy the lapco bigshot(50) but if you want to spend the $$$ either a Dye Boomstick or flatline (Over 100 dollars).......I have two friends w/ flatlines one works like a charm on his custom. but the other friend is having alot of problems w/ the flatline his "original" tippmann

I tried out the Tippman Model 98 and the Spyder TL Plus. I liked the TL, so i got that. I think the TL+ is better than the Tippman 98, but that's just my opinion. For a barrel, get the Flatline barrel. If you dn't wanna spend the money, get the Lapco Bigshot.

i used to like tippmans better, but the last time i went to my field some kid had a em1, i shot it and it was so accurate, and the trigger was great. i would choose a em1 over a tippman anyday.

When i first bought a gun, i was considering a a m98 or shutter, and then i shot some kids tl, which had a great feel, so i bought the shutter, and i love it. So i abvioiusly fell spyders are better, but m98 do have some advatages. Theyre vey low maintce, but are a ***** to fiel strip. If ur lookinf for a barrel, i know someone with the 32degrees m98, who has the ice cold, He loves it, and nas never brokena apintball in it, which might sound as a surprise, but tis true, HEs shott maybe 10000 balls, all marbilizers and diablo, and never breaks balls, But even better would be the boomstick, but ive never heard about it on an m98 but i know the ice cold works great

I think it should be obvious that neither cmpany is better it is a matter of preference (although Spyder offers more options). Go for the lapco bigshot/autospirit they are well worth 50$.

I think both companys are good in there own way but i had a tippmann and it was fine, it worked better than most spyders i went agianst. If you are going to get a barrel i would not get anything less than perfect the dye boomstick

I have an automag classic p/f,boomstick barrel,12volt revolution,lcd electronic grip,ans 4stage expansion chamber,rt retro valve, airamerica nitro tank,dropforward

oooh come on we all know that this is a age old question yet to be answered. Some will say spyder some will say tippman. some will say duriablity some will say performance. some will say butter side up some will say down, blah blah blah blah blah. There are some questions that just can't be answered.

but in truth, spyder:)

I've polished the inside of my m98's casing. The main thing you're going to want to do is remove all the damn overspray and paint that is in the body in the area of the rear bolt and the linkage arm. I spent about 4 hrs working on mine and it quieted the action alot and you can actually tell a difference when shooting it compared to one right out of the box. Don't worry about polishing the front bolt area, I tried on mine and after i removed all the paint I noticed the casting was extremely rough up there and the was afraid that if i sanded it completely smooth it might actually hurt more than help. As for barrels I went with an dye excel 14 inch. I shot around 200 bigballs out of it and was getting ****ty accuracy but team colors are awesome out of it. I've also shot el Tigre and inferos and they shoot damn good too but infernos are alittle small. 32 degree platinum shoots likes darts out of the thing. I've shoot around 5000 balls through it so far and have only had one break which i believe was from overshooting the hopper because most of the damn ball backsprayed into the hopper making a hell of a mess.

Spyders are better, and you should get the Dye titanium boomstick. Tippmans are still good, but I dont like them because they are tooo looong.

I've shot Carbines, TL+s, Shutters, EM1s, and M98s. I like the feel of the Shutter because of the spacing of the grip and the "foregrip" (if you count an expansion chamber as a foregrip) for aiming, steadyness, etc. Since I have small hands and the spacing thing is barely noticable, that might not apply to you at all. The Carbine was cool, and I was considering buying one till I found that they're not really sold anymore. M98s generally have a great feel in terms of room and grip and whatnot, and are also pretty durable (lots of fields are starting to use stock versions as they're rental markers because of this). My little brother bought a TL+ and it also has a nice feel to it, a little more cramped, but once again, hardly noticeable. EM1 is DQed because its electronic and everyone loves electros. =) In my opinion, if you take really good care of Spyders, they could be slightly better in terms of performance over Tippmanns, but Tippmanns are usually more durable. I play woodball, and I own a Shutter (little biased in favor of Spyders I guess ; ) ) and it performs really well. So my opinion in terms of advantages falls in line with millions of others:
Tippmann= Durability
Spyder= Performance.

this could go on and on and on forever..it's just like saying Mags or Cockers..you know? what it REALLY comes down to is personal preference. Some like Spyders, some like Tippmans.
