I have been paintballin (rec) for about a year now, I just got a job, and I'm thinking about either upgrading my Spyder Compact 2k over a period of about 2 months or I could buy an impulse and nitro in about 5 months. The reason I ask is because I'm going to start enter tournements and I'm not sure what'll be better.
If you have a suggestion for a gun or specific upgrade PM me

neither will be better for you if you suck....... but it depends....do you like your spyder? if you don't like it, dont pour more money into if....simple as that.
You definetly need somthin a bit better, so you don't get hot gun penalties (due to unregulated setup)

I like my spyder but I love the impulse, I'm trying to save money
Along with the money thing I don't want something that requires you to load more money into it like a cocker

like $100 right now, but I make $7.50 an hour and I work 3 hours a day 3 days a week. My current setup sucks, Spyder Compact 2k with J &J ceramic and bottom line

buy a palmer stab for 75...that will bring your consistancy up a alot. i have a ceramic--good barrel, after that you need an electric from...mako storm or boo yaa elcd

I just got my impulse recently and I couldnt be happier. I came off of a spyder clone. The performance change was great. If I were you I wouldnt be like me and dump more money into the spyder. Thats what I did and I eventually ended up getting the impulse anyway, so it was a waste of money that I dumped into the spyder. If you are going to stick with paintball for a long time get the impulse, it will be cheaper in the long run. The impulse will actually improve your game (hear me out). You will probably start making more one shot kills because of the accuracy and consistency of the impulse, The range on the impulse was better than on my old gun, you can shoot ALOT faster (which can be a bad thing), the impulse is easy to maintain. Like I said if your going to stick with paintball go impulse.

hmm lets see...
my spyder ccan perform just as well as an impulse, and if yours couldn't, it must not of been ugraded as much as mine. spyders can be made just as consistant w/ a palmer stabilizer or a max flow, and a few other mods. the range? range only increases with a flatline barrel, or if you are shooting hot, wich is illegal/against the rules. you can get a mako storm and shoot 15bps with a spyder, it has been done before.

hey, My impulse has outperformed any spyder I have ever seen, not saying yours wouldnt, but by my experiance my gun has eaten all spyders.
Like I said in the long run with all the money you spend on upgrades on the spyder the impulse will be cheaper. You can also do a ton to the impulse for cheap.

btw jpball103,
Acuraccy is not only increased by velocity and the flatline barrel. Flatlines only work when they are perfectly alined and installed. Even so there are MANY ways to improve accuracy. Paint to barrel match is KEY. So is round paint. Consistency is another way.

now that I think about it, the money it'll take to make my gun Spyder TL level will cost way more then what I want

if you do decide to upgrade your spyder get stuff that you can put on your impulse like a drop forward or a new tank or something.

ya, good idea, the way I think of it, you don't add hydrolics to a cheap car, you are gonna want a totally pimpin car to trick out

i was talking about range...you said 'the range increased with my impulse' and i said range only increase with a flatline barrel, or if you're shooting hot.

ok, well guess what, what I said earlier still applies (most of it). those are not the only ways to increase range. Again if the flatline is not close to perfectly installed, it sucks. Again, a good paint to barrel match will increase range, round paint will fly further. Consistency is the only on that doesnt apply. Low pressure guns and blow forwards tend to have better accuracy at range also.
