What is the difference between expansion chambers and gas through grips?

expansion chambers are gas through fore grips except that they have like.....funnels that are alternated invertedly or vice versa..like.....it kinda looks like this lying down [><><><] and dat design keeps co2 from goin in...unlike gas through fore grips...which are basically just [-------]

Ok.....i guess. But other than looks, what are the actual features or differences between them. Why are expansion chambers more expensive than gas through grips? Does co2 channel through each one differently?

That's what SouLjAh was trying to explain the [><><><] pattern is on the inside to increase surface area wich in turn increases ambient heat absorbsion. It also provides a volume to be filled with gas. By doing this expansion chambers earn their name by allowing liquid Co2 to EXPAND into a gas before entering the gun. Foregrips are just something to hold on to.

My GT-2000 gun doesnt have a vertical co2 adapter. The bottom-line fits directly into the gun. I want to get a grip, but all of the grips or ex. chambers screw directly into the vertical co2 adapter. What do I do? Does anyone know where I can get a grip or ex. chamber that fits directly into the gun and not into a vertical adapter?

They probably don't make X-Chambers that screw into NPT ports, It'd be too hard to screw in and out, and most people have vertical adapters that use X-Chambers. However, for you, you could get a LAPCO Spyder vert adapter for 15.50 at G3 Paintball. It should work, but I'd do some research first if I were you. Maybe find a GT owner's group?

PBninja, and PBSouljah(?) not all expansion chambers look like that ( [><><><]). You are thinking of the um, ACI Exp. Chamber, ya thats it. Well that chamber itself is totally unique because of that innovative design.
Ok Gumby dude, the difference between and Exp. Chamber and a gas through for-grip, is that a Forgrip will not expand the liqiud Co2 comming out of your CA bottle(Co2 bottle). the only thing a forgrip provides is a grip for you to hold onto whilst the gas go's though it.
Now on the other hand, an Exp. Chamber will Expand your Gas through the grip in which it makes. The expansion chamber mixes Air with the Co2 to that the liquid Co2 dissolves into air there for not allowing liqiud Co2 into your gun and freeze the O-rings ( very bad if it does... It could freeze them up for 115 minutes, or it could just destroy them! both ways, YOUR OUTTA THE GAME!) Some Exp. Chamber patterns include these: [-<><><>-], [-|-|-|-], or the typical cheap-o type: [-|-]

Your best bet would be to get an Expansion Chamber if you running Co2 to prevent Drop off on Range or distance, or Velosity Spikes were your velocity may go from 280 fps to 350 fps!

To solve your ASA problem... you can most likley pick up a screw-in ASA adapter for about $15 to $20. Kinda cheap and well worth it!

Got it?

I found a vertical bottle adapter at nationalpb.com and it specifically fits my GT-2000 gun. Now all i have to do is decide whether i wanna buy a foregrip or spend the extra money for an expansion chamber.

Come on now... if you want opitimum performance from your GTO you must buy the Exp. Chamber! for about $10 to $15 more, you will notice an improvement far beyond that crappy peice of junk thing known as a For-Grip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

I would go with an X-Chamber. G3 Paintball has an ACI Sub Zero 4-stage for about 30 bucks. I really like mine, it's just the right size for a grip, and I have had no velocity drop-offs or spikes since I installed it.

Well smart ball you smart *** j/k:D I was just trying to clarify. You're right though there are all kinds of expansion chambers out there I even saw an 11 stage chamber once.

U should get a reg and an anti siphon tube, That will keep liquid co2 out of your gun, and will definetly prevent velocity spikes. Plus, if u ever decide to go nitro or low pressure, the ex chamber wil be a waste of money. U should get the pmi pure energy reg, ts ponly 40 bucks, whic is about the same as a good ex chmaber, and u get the tube put in your gun for 10 dolaars at ur local shop
