I have never actually played a game of paintball BUT I have shot a paintball gun and have been shot with by a paintball gun and it seems like a really fun sport.

I know the compact 2k is one of the best starter guns but the Xtra is very appealing but I guess is for more experienced players.

Since I have never played at a field or anything, I'm a total newbie...should i get the Compact 2k or Xtra?

Thankyou for your help

try out a game at a field some time and decide if you like it. then if you do like it i would suggest the spyder xtra

i have 2 freinds. one has xtra, other has compact 2k. compact 2k needed x chamber, new grip frame, and put rear cocking on it. that all cost him 150 extra dollars to the 90 he bought the gun, and now his 240 gun is still not as good as my other frineds 170 xtra. xtra all the way

depending on what your friend with the compact bought for a x-chamber..

he didn't buy anything to really make his gun better than the extra.

so subtract the grips and rear cocking and you have nothing to make his compact better. if he bought a barrel, and a x - chamber though don't you think his gun would be better?

MABYE IM WRONG.

One more thing Dawg. how In Zeus's BUTT hole (as they would say on the rock) did he spend 150 on grips, x chamber, and rear cocking?

I agree though you should play at your field first though..

he had to buy a new grip FRAME cua the plastic one on the 2k broke in half. that cost him 65, rear cocoking 50, and x chmaber 45. i am not saying those are best upgrades, but the xtra comes stock with those things

for one thing the compact 2000 and the xtra both have the same venturi bolt (2nd generation) but the xtra is rearcocking. and the xtra DOESNT have a expansion chamber it is a 1 inch chamber if that (it is a gas through for grip and they put a mini expansion chamber to make it seem like you get more for your money but you really don't). and im pretty sure they both come with the SAME plastic 2 finger grip frame

I think i will just get the Xtra...If i go play at a field all day to see what it is like...then I won't have enough money to get the Xtra.

Thanks for all your input

cdietz the grip frame on the xtra is metal, and he bought a rear cokcing kit for 50 i think. and the x chamber is suprisingly good. its been used on some of the cold days this spring and its fine. obviously in winter it would falter, but for now its fine

The X-Tra is MUCH better. It's basically like a tricked out Compact 2000. I HIGHLY suggest the X-tra. You don't need to buy anything except for a new barrel for it.

One thing though; the X-tra has vertical feed, meaning the paint drops straight down into the gun. If you want to aim over the top of the gun, the vertical feed might get in the way. You should get used to it, though. It shouldn't be much of a problem.

If it bothers you a lot, then you should get the Spyder TL +. It's like the X-tra but it's powerfeed instead of vertical.
