I have a dream. that paintball will be played at the xgames, and the olimpics, and will be shown regularly on tv. Paintballers will get all the ladies. Skateboarding, non existant. There will be a field in every city, a shop on every corner. There will be an X League, with an XBowl. Tournements such as the World Cup and IAO will draw thousands of spectators. Paint prices will drop to $25 a case. I have a dream.

No doubt paintball is going to blow up in popularity, and steps are being made in the right direction to commercialization of the sport, but ask what you have to give up to get that, and ask if it is worth it.

Paintball guns will be sold at a discount at local sports chains, not just BE, but all guns. And they will be cheaper than they are now, alot cheaper. Paintball pro shops will not be able to compete and they will suffer badly, alot will go out of business. Just look at snowboarding and you can see how this happened to a large extent. What happens now is that you lose stores with technical staff who can sell a gun to you to cater your needs, and you replace them with "Gee, I don't know, this one costs more so I guess it's probably better". Ask the gunsmith at Wal mart the advantages of a blow back design vs a blow forward and you'll see what I mean

Fields will become overpopulated, and field owners will want to make the most money for their acreage. So why would anyone want to have a woodsfield take up the space 8 speedball fields could take up? Say goodbye to the woods game ladies and gentlemen

With paintball, when you go to a field, there is some competition, but there is also a strong sense of fellowship amongst the players. Paintball is still small, and everyone can connect with one another in the knowledge that they've found something special that not alot of people know about. Look at how many times someone loans you their 2000 dollar gun at a tournament when you don't even know them, it doesn't happen in mainstream sports

I have a dream too, and in this dream, things will stay the same because they are just perfect as they are, though I could really go for those cheap cases of paint ;)

that is interesting, it could possibly happen. but look at skateboarding. that hit maintstream a few years ago and walmart and such started sellin skateboards at their stores, but many shops are still open and get major buisness. i think people will realize that walmarts and targets arnt good places to buy their stuff and will start to go to the shops for their supplies and maintenince and good professional addvice. but that's what i think. and of course, paint will be cheap. amen

I agree with almost all of that. Only exception is the fellowship thing and loaning $2000 guns to people you hardly know. If there really was astrong fellowship why would guns have a tendancy to "walk off on their own" at almost every tourney?

To be 100 percent perfectly honest, I think the people who walk off with guns aren't the real players. Alot of tournament guys can hate each others guts, but everyone has the respect not to do that to one another. At skyball 2K1, a number of guns went missing from the playing floor because just about anyone was let down there. At skyball 2K2 they had more teams, but only players and support staff were allowed on the floor and I did not hear of a single gun going missing.

The way our sport is today...just that OUR sport. Mianstreem and super popularity means devision(sp?). It will be like baseball where there are people on the team no one likes or think are weird so they become outcasted. And i dont think if it grows to much we will have such a community.

Right now paintballers are all generally really nice to each other more of a brother hood..if 40% of the worlds population started to play you can garentee we will get 30% more reatards , like racists and homophobes and more noobs. Think about it..
