View Full Version : Wiping....

How the hell will we stop wiping? I hate it when people do it. More refs? Some sort of strict rule? Wiping is just a huge factor in paintball that has to be solved. One guy who owns a field even told us that he wipes when he can at tourneys and one tip was to "switch" sides of the bunker when he is gogged so he can quickly wipe his sleeve across his goggles to cover the hit! I was like, WTF? Anyways, I always call myself out and I wish the opponents would too.

do away with Jersey's
Everyone must wear Pure White Clothing.....pants, and shirts.... then wiping would be a little harder...
and if your retarded enough to shoot white paint it serves you right....
Paintballers get payed, why not fined? $1000 a wipe might slow people down.... and if paintball becomes more like a televised sport you can check instant replays to see if people wipe....
You ever seen Lightning Paint????? that stuff is nice and thick,,, make paint more like that,

This will not happen unless paintball becomes a League Sport like baseball and they get annual pay wont be for a long time
how about every one wears dark so a bright hit can been seen easier, have like a camera per guy on each side of the field.

I agree that wiping away paint is a problem. Even at my local field I see guys doing it all the time, and while I have done it once when I felt the guy was out and then shot me anyway, I still walked myself off the field once I lit his rear end up.
I think the solution is a crackdown on cheating by something more than just a "get off the field", but you can't really fine the guy because it isn't a professional sport so to speak. However, perhaps keeping list of guys caught cheating and pass it around to tournaments may reduce the likelihood. For one year these guys can't compete, and when they come back, put them on strict probation. If they screw up AT ALL, then make it so they can't play again in a tournament. I know that would be a lot of shuffling of paper but it would keep guys from doing it because suddenly, they show up at a tournament and it's like "nope, sorry."
Until humans stop desiring to win at all costs, there will be no 100%cure for cheating. But a stiffer punishment will deter future acts I believe.

why dont you have to wear new clean clothes for every game, so you cant say a wipe is an old hit... and you could wash off the bunkers after each game so people cant say a wipe is form them leaning agianst a bunker... and if they do wipe everyone gets to shoot him 100 times
 I think that would work...

every humugous tournament they should just get hundreds of refs, and have a ref for every player....
And every ref get's his own stun gun.....

I think they should just have cameras cover all angles....the field is fairly small, and have refs review each video recorded for each game for angle of the particular camera. It would require more refs, but their job would be easier, and even the presence of cameras would deter people from wiping. Imagine if you went into a tourny....
"All action from each angle is recorded and reviewed to ensure fair and spotsmanlike play..."

 Thats a good idea, but it would get expensive and slow down the game times. Maybe when paintball gets more comericalized and has more money behind we can do something like this. untill then lots of refs, and thick, sticky, gooy paint will have to do

Well Dynasty, they can apparently spend a couple bajillion on the air systems..but think about the revenue that would be generated by teams wanting to play in a guarenteed cheatless tourny? I know a LOT of teams that would be there.
I figure if they can give a $250000 prize and fly people all over the globe, a couple cameras and monitors aren't out of the question.
Seriously, someone could make some big bucks by sponsoring the NPPL with cameras and the like.

yea even if it was just some cheap hand held camera we could mount that would be good

i like the idea of holding records of all the cheaters. Somebody should start an association against cheating. Everybody who holds tournaments could join for free and then there would be a big list of all the people who cheated. Like, when people join, you search their names on the official website, then it tells you the person, team, division (am, pro, rookie), what they did and when. Then you could deny them access to the tournament. It just might work.

A field elevated 8 feet off the ground on a clear, plastic platform. Then we refs wont get shot. :D

you also gotta love playing on and arguin with the refs. when the hell will this stop? never...or the same time as wiping. i watched a game when i guy got gogged and continued to play on right on front of the ref, you gotta know he loved that 1-for-1

Maybe a special paint with non-toxic UV marking dye in it. If somebody wipes with their hand and then smears the paint on the ground, the UV dye residue will stay on their hand. After the game, all hands get scanned. This excludes fields with a lot of paint all over the wood and stuff. If it's sup'air, there shouldn't be too many problems. Just an idea.

Paint gets all over the place. Even on sup air, guns, gear, packs, arms, legs, everything gets painted up. This wouldnt do much.
If I slide into a bunker feet first I put my free hand on the ground usually. Theres always broken paint on the ground, now it looks like I wiped.
Wiping it part of the game. As much as you might not want to admit it, its true. Refs can do all they want to try to see it and stop it. But the fact is teams, refs, spectators, etc all know it goes on. Something like "UV paint" is just overboard, and won't ever happen.

Okay, okay. As I said it was just an idea. An unrealistic, stupid idea.

you guys dont wipe? y not, its so much funner to play. I wipe all the time and I stay in the whole game, its awsome! I usually win to, i run at the flag and even if i get shot i dont go out, i duck and wipe, thats my motto.

Sorry, but that doesnt quite work. If they're obviosuly playing on no ammount of bonus balling will stop them.

I played a 4-man tourney last weekend for a charity, and not once did wiping even cross my mind.
I even had the perfect opportunity, a ball snaked in over my goggles but under my visor, so no paint was visible, until I took off my mask! I could have easily played on for the last elimination, but I didn't.
