Most un Regulated guns run at 800 PSI (pundes per square inch). With a Regulator it lowers you guns PSI anywhere from 200 - 450 or higher PSI.

The Results of this are better consistency (thus better accuracy), quieter operation, and a better gas efficiency.

From what I understand, a regulator does exactly what it's named for.. it regulates the air coming into your marker. There for when you shoot the marker it keeps the amount of pressure that you are shooting with regulated to a preset amount. so when you are shooting your marker the speed of the balls do not deviate that much. Regulators are also used to keep liquid CO2 out of your marker. And yes a regulator is required to make your marker run at a Low pressure.

unless you get a co2 reg like the core one it does not keep co2 liquid out of the gun...an x chmaber does

umm, dawgs712 is wrong, while it depends on the reg, regs do keep out liquid CO2 better than X-chambers, but if liquid does go into your reg, it can really screw things up if you have a reg built for N2 only. The plamers stablilzer is hands down the best reg for CO2 out there(others will gladly back me up on this). It's kinda pricy though($90). Now the PMI pure energy reg($50new, can find cheaper used) is well worth the price, while not as good as the palmer, it's great for the price). It will keep out small amounts of liquid, but I recomend an anti-siphen tube if you have a bottom line.

Regulators regulate the amount of air you are using. It makes your tank ask longer, because it uses the same amount of pressure each time. So as you use up your tank the operating pressure wan't change.

No, your gun won't blow up without a reg....

If your gun is powered by CA/N2 at 3000 or 4500 psi, your gun WILL blow up without a regulator. If you don't believe me, just try it. Don't forget to write your will first.

thankyou silver bullet, jesterdude, if 3000 psi went into your gun than your gun would explode. thast why they have regs on all nnitro tanks

IT WILL NOT EXPLODE! Jesus christ, the lines will blow if you have macro/micro hose, or if you have ss hose it will just wreck your internals and give you a big scare...actually some guns are tested with having 3000+ psi vent into the gun, like angels... But its not like in the movies where everything goes into huge fireballing explosions at the slightest touch! LoL, I never said it wasn't BAD, I just said it wouldn't BLOW UP.

True dat Krasher, but I think you were taking us a litte TOO seriously. I for one didn't mean you were really going to be impaled by a shard of paintball receiver in a massive fireball explosion. Of coarse, compressed air would be too dangerous to use if this was the case. All I meant was that you would not want to operate a paintball gun without a regulator. I personally wouldn't trust the tank valve to prevent damaging pressures from entering the gun.

umm, not for CO2. For CO2, the palmers stabilizer is the best!

The @#$% they do. The Stabilizer was MADE for THat dreadful gas known as Carbon Dioxide. Stabilizer + C02 = Nitro (not really but you get the point).
