Bob's Ironmen are the best! Though, yes, the SC Ironmen are the best team in paintball these days

Hmmm. that is a very good question. I like both teams... this is a hard one! I'll have to think about this one, and answer the poll

Yeah, you really should specify which Iron Men you mean there. It's unbeliveable how Bob Long can put together a top team every year.

As a team, avalanche aint that great. As individual players they're probably the best. That's why they win. Take Lasoya for example, he sorta plays back till he sees an opportunity then essentailly bunkers the entire oposing team. That's their playing style, staying in the game until individual talents can shine through. Hell, they only practice once before each NPPL event, that's nothing. The Ironmen on the other hand, now there is a team that can work together, because they practice together. That's why Avalanche has more of the big names, because there are more opportunities for the players like Lasoya, Rocky or Forster (well not anymore for Glen) to shine through, because they rely on one player to crack the game open

And they wipe, and start fistfights with opposing players. And refs, and each other. Bunch o poops if you ask me

Well i prefer the way ironmen play.
Their whole game is based on attack and shooting a butt load of paint. The only prob i see with their play is that if ya stop the intial attack they sorta freeze up

I don't even pay attention to the real NPPL stuff like I probably should. I don't even like to participate in tourneys. I think it's too serious; I like to keep paintball casual and fun. I also can't stand the *******es who make up many pro teams. There's 10 times as many @$$holes percentage-wise in tournaments than there are during recreational play. I can't stand the people who act like jerks because they're pro wannabes with inferiority complexes.
Not that Avanlanche and the Ironmen are a-holes, or wipe, or anything, I just think there's to many jerks when you get to a really serious level. That's why I've always backed away from real pro tournaments and stuff. I like to keep it fun.

i'd say the iron men because they are the most talked about team, but other than that, i have no clue

Hey FSU dont you think you are over generalizing?
I hate when rec players automatically think that all tourney players are jerks just because a few @ssholes make trouble. In all the tourneys i have been too, the vast majority of the people there are fantastic people. Prime example is the tippman factory team which i played an event with back in june, they called it quits for the day and gave me a case and a half of paint for free!
And that whole idea of tourney players cheating alot is bs, while it does happen, all the tourney players i know are standup guys who play fair, and to top it off a lot of them are also refs.
I think that a big part of the problem is that rec players see guys in jerseys with nice guns and assume they are tourney players and when those guys are jerks they think all tourney players are jerks.

No, I do not think I am overgenerallizing. I didn't say that all tourney players cheat. It's just that a MUCH larger number of them cheat and are jerks than in the rec ball scene.
I know plenty of standup guys who are big into the tourney scene. Some of Team Strange plays around here, and they're known as the "nice guys" of the NPPL.
I also know a lot of jack@$$es who are tourney players. More often than not, these are the people who will never be able to make it as pros, and they compensate by being mean and overbearing on the field.
The truth is, I barely know anyone mean who plays Rec Ball. In speedball, 40% of the people who I play against are people I'd rather not see ever again. It just amazes me how many @$$holes prefer speedball over recball.
Some of my best friends are hardcore speedball players, but some of the people I least like also play speedball. I can't think of anyone I truly dislike in the rec ball scene.
Just to clarify, I do NOT think that every speedball player, or even most speedball players, are jackholes, or cheat. All I'm saying is there's a lot more cheating a-holes in speedball than in rec ball, and that's why I prefer to play rec.
Case in point, that guy who posted that thread called "When did it stop being fun?" or something like that. He saw a captain punch a teammate in the face because the guy got hit off the break. He went to the hospital.
I read paintball magazines talking about how a fistfight erupted at the world cup, and how someone went OFF the field, into a stream, cheating to get around the other team in the same Cup.

avalanche is cool... but if they practice alot more, and played with more of a sportsmanlike conduct on and sometimes off the field... they would be the most likable team in all of paintball. bob long's ironmen are good... they're getting really good... their strategy is what i really like about them... sc ironmen... their a great aggresive team...

I've got to agree with FSU. Tournies generally have a lot more complainers/whiners/wipers/all around jerks in them. However, this doesn't keep me from playing. I always make everyone on my team say 'Good game' or 'Good job' after every game, whether we win or lose.
I remember one time we were short a player, so I called a person I kind of knew and asked if he wanted to play. He's one of the best players that I know, and especially for his age (he plays WPF & NPPL). Well, we showed up at the field, and we were doing pretty good.
Until one game, I got shot off the break (I'm not the fastest guy around ;) ) so I sat at the sidelines and watched. As I was watching, I saw this "pro" player take TWO direct hits to his side, and wipe them off. I immediately jumped up and started screaming at the refs to pull him for wiping. Of course, I knew they couldn't pull him for someone saying that he wiped, but since the spectators weren't allowed to say anything, they pulled the nearest player...which was him.
Sure, we got a penalty for coaching, gave the other team points, and lost the game, but I can NOT stand cheaters. After that game, I asked him if he had whiped every game, which he said 'yes', so we played the rest of our games with four players. When the tourney was over, we had still pulled out third, but when we stood up to get the trophies, I handed mine to the fourth place team, and so did everyone else (willingly). I could personally care less about anything obtained with cheating, and the fourth place team deserved it a lot more than us.
Did I overreact? Probably, but hey, cheaters will ruin this sport if not kept in check.

Avalance have EVERYTHING paid for them, everything! I read this in a PGI article by Robbo, he used to play for Avalance. I've heard of Rocky and Chris wiping, actually seen Rocky do it once. I like Ironmen..don't they have Dave Youngblood? Now that's a cool name.
