i think a sniper is good in the woods if the sniper knows what hes doing and takes out the potiental leader of the other team or takes out a defense where people have en-trenched themselves in you have to be a good player to be a sniper u must have pacience the ability to be stealth and learn to take small accurate shots at people

if the sniper knows what hes' doing, hes deadly, if he's some idiot, then he's a waste of a teammate.

chicken i totatly agree with you. the newbies who stay in the back and never shoot and say they where sniping is bull****. the people who know how to get behind enemy lines and get one shot kills without being seen is a real paintball sniper.
P.S. EvilAngel i even used periods

Out of curiosity, if you're going for a one-shot kill, and it bounces, wtf do you do? the guy knows your general direction (usually, I can't imagine getting shot and not knowing the general direction and how to get out of the way of the next shot...but hey I'm sure there's walking target practice people out there...or people with pinched nerve endings or something.). Or do you use three shots to make sure one of them is broken? Actually its an ironic story because I remember having the same guy unaware of my position twice, one time I popped up and gave one shot, got him. Second time I fired 3-4, apparently missed completely or they bounced. He then looks right at me and comes to bunker me. What can I say, I'm a newbie.
Basically I'm asking what the hell you do if you're seen? lay down some paint and book, or what?

I pushed the wrong button on the poll. I didnt mean to say snipers were bad paintball players so dont get upset. However there ARE snipers that exist that are not exactly good players. For example, we had a rec game at our local field the other day and there were a bunch of people playing, mainly newbies, that were playing way out of range of everyone else and trying to lob balls in on everyone. Well needless to say they werent hitting anything and they pretty much were useless. They wouldnt move up to help there team and when they finally got charged they ran like hell about 50 yards back into the woods and stayed there doing the same thing they did before. That kind of playing is just horse **** in my opinion. And that kind of "sniper" is useless. On the other hand a good definition for a sniper in paintball would be a smart player that strategically moves around and works the angles for a better shot thats a USEFUL sniper. I think the actual "snipers" of paintball are the teams back players. They may not all live by the philosophy of "one shot, one kill" but they stay back (not WAYYYYYYYY back, only like a bunker back.) and lay consistent and accurate cover fire for there front players to maneuver and they are crucial to their team. At least thats my opinion.

Mushi for the ones that bounce the first time i go back down and change postion a little bit not much but enough so he wont know where im going to be next and the second time i might pop 2shots at him.An easier way is if you hav the time try and aim for things where it will alomost brake every time like the harness or if you have to the mask but i try not to do that because no one wants to be shot in the temple but if that the only shot hay take it its part of the game.

stand your ground. if you are decent you shouldn't have a problem. NEVER run that is just stupid. move to your sides or move where you can get an angel but never run for the heck of it
