ok heres the deal i want an impulse and from what i have heard it will need a lpr kit, new trigger, and a tape worm... and the problems a stock impulse has is bolt stick and first shot drop off... correct? Now what will totaly help to not have bolt stick or drop of? is it the tape worm the lpr kit or a large half chicken half toad. And what upgrades would you recomend i get WITH the gun so i don't have to putz around with it all the damn time. I don't know if this will help at all but im gonna run it on a 68 45.
Any comments greatly appreciated.

If you have 600 bucks, get a Project RAT.

to start of with your impulse, not all impulses have bolt stick or fsdo, but if you do, and you put in a tapeworm it will eliminate bolt stick, and make ur fsdo less, if not eliminating it. The LPR is better then the tapworm, it does the same thing while eliminating kick and improving effeciency. New triggers are cheap, just go with a blade. A delrin bolt would be a nice upgrade, it has less kick, may improve effeciency and accuracy (depending on who u ask)
ok, first off, all stock impulses have bolt stick but this is not a problem. this comes from the fact that an impulse relies on the back pressure from a paintball to recock. this means that if you dry fire an imp the bolt will stick forward emptying your tank. To solve this don't dry fire or if you have to use a barrel condom to provide the necessary back pressure. If you really want to dry fire then get a solenoid optimiser upgrade, as these eliminate bolt stick.
second, FSDO only affects around 30/40% of all imps (not just stock ones) and even then it is hardly noticeable in most cases. if you are really woried about FSDO then just read my 8 step FSDO guide (patent pending),
1- clean your hammer, it should not have any grease on it, only on the o-rings (read the manual as to what parts to grease exactly)
2-make sure your pressure is about 180 psi
3- make sure that your dwell is set so you chrono around 280fps (generaly, not just first shot)
4- change you battery, get a new one but don't go for the discount brand, get a good well known make.
5- clean your solenoid, this will probably solve 90% of FSDO cases that aren't solved by the above.
6- if you still have problems then get some silicone oil and put a couple of drops on your hammer (this will void your warranty so if you send your gun for repairs clean this oil off first)
7- use a delrin bolt, the fact that they don't need greasing may help
8- get an ND slick Shot ram ($30 at e-paintballoutlet.com) it is the only upgrade that is proven to help with FSDO
if you still have a problem then send it back (just make sure to remove the silicone oil first)
now, about the upgrades, the stock impulse is a great marker and doesn't need any upgrades, if you are to get an impulse then the only thing you will need is a fast hopper (at the very least a 12v revvy w/ x-board)
apart from that no other upgrades are needed, it shoots fast, accurate and is quite efficient (if you set it up properly).
if you do want to get upgrades though you should look at a vert reg, a tapeworm, a delrin bolt and a drop forward (you have a big tank)
the vert reg is the same as the horizontal one, but you can use it as a fore grip and it makes it easier to upgrade youe impulse in the future.
the tapeworm eliminates bolt stick, increases efficiency, reduces kick, increases cycle rate and makes the marker a little quieter. I recomend this particular solenoid optimiser as certain other models can only be fitted onto older impulses and as the LPR should only be considered by people who know exactly how they work, and how to set up an impulse to use one as they are very easy to set up wrong.
delrin bolts mean you don't have to grease your bolt, its that simple, they are all about as good as each other so just look at length and colour if you want one.
i hope that this helps you, but if you have any more questions about impulses, no matter how simple they may seem feel free to PM me with them.
