Well after playing yesterday several of us got to talking

one of just got a brand new dark angel and one guy was saying that have a gun like that kinda makes you a better player because it gives you more cofidence becasuse you can lay down alot of paint and keep people down.

so what do you think about this?

the gun does not make the player. it will give you confidence, but not a better player.

BETTER player no. More confident player, yes. More wasteful player (paintwise) yes. Player gets more hits because of his cps (case per second) count yes.

Well Trauma and I are talking about me with a dark angel. I gotta admit I took more gutsy moves than I normally do but I didn't use any more paint than usual. I personally don't think it will make me a better player. But yeah you get this invincible feeling... until you get shot ;)

Yes, a gun will make you a better player, alot of you are agreeing with me and yet wont admit it. See the thing is this. A better gun will make you a more conifdent player. A more confident player IS a better player. A player who isnt confident can be pinned down easier, will hesitate and miss opportunities, and will not be as cool under pressure. There are two things you must aquire to be better than when you started (ie. Newbie), skill and confidence. Skill wihtout confidence and you're still going to suck, a good deal of paintball is timing and exploiting opportunities. No confidence, and you wont do this.

i dont think that as soon as you get a better gun you will be a better player, but the better gun will MAKE you a better player faster than other guns will

I played in a tourney yesterday on a novice team, first time together as a group and one round was against an amature team that had an angel three autocokers and a e-mag four people including me on our team had tippmans, mine is a custom 98 and one a spyder xtra. We got first pull and possesion, and got three of them out, they got two of us, we didn't get the flag hung on their pole but I would consider it a victory. So to me, I think the gun can make you better if you dont rely to heavily on it, but skill is everything. Yes I got out, protecting the team mate with the flag was my duty, but i also got one of them out so it was fine by me. This team we played won the tourney in the amature division, we took 5th in the novice out of 13 teams, so maybe it was just luck, or they under estimated us. Who knows...

Better guns usually come with better barrels, better regs, and better triggers than other guns, if you've maxed your current gun, of course upgrading to the better gun will help your game.

the gun does not make the player. the player is what counts.
the only time this didnt work was when my friend had to use a talon agaisnt shockers.
