Hey guys, the purpose for this thread is to give members ways to encourage paintball in your area and get more people interested in playing.

One good idea I came across on the internet is putting old magazines in waiting rooms and librarys.

I'll put some more thought into this but in the meantime I'd like you guys to add some stuff and maybe this will be worthy of a stick-E.

If people in paintball want a good image we need to portray a good image. It's not just about the magazines or the adds. It how we as players act and are seen by the the general public. The ***holes with the BE specials from Walmart using the little old lady's cats for target practice that need to stop. That's the stuff people see. You will NEVER hear on the news about the hotty in a g-string with the paintball marker but you WILL hear about the pack of 16 yearolds doing a drive-by. How many people who don't play paintball actually READ a paintball magazine? People need to see us playing at fields. Seeing the safety equipment, the rules, and things like that. They need to see that we aren't just a group of nutcases shooting at each other.

And if you want to help paintball in your locale, you should support your field/group/organization when they do charity events. After all people could pretty much care less what we do when were playing (unless it's televised after all), out of site, safely away from their reality . But when we transgress into society and do good things, toys for tots, neighborhood litter removal ect... they start to like us being around. Then when some Jackssa takes a marker and paints up somebody's house :pissed: people can say "It's no way it was those guy's doing the 'insert charitable event here'!".
Well, That's my two cents anywho.

Offer to take a friend that hasn't played before, and offer to pay for them. (Hey...who's going to be insane enough to turn down a FREE game of paintball?)

Keep your ears open for someone that has mentioned they'd like to play more, but can't afford it. Then go buy their equipment for them. (Two friends and I did that for someone.)

Promote safety wherever you see idiots NOT being safe.

Introduce players to the CPPA - The Christian Paintball Players Association...show that even "people of faith" play the game.

Help newbies whenever possible. Don't make fun of the guns they bring or rent. Don't yell at them. Don't make snide comments about them. Don't bunker them or take cheap shots. If you're a team captain, PICK them to be on your team. Coach them. Encourage them. Give em' "atta boys" for good things that you saw them do. They'll come back, and you'll have a new admirerer in the process!

Don't use foul language. Nothing worse than a bunch of potty mouths on the field when parents come by to drop their kids off.

Be polite.

Don't lose your temper.

Remember it's just a game.

In fact, remember "Paintball is FUN!" (copyright @2002 RamboPreacher)

Cdog, who going to waste there own money for someone else? If they can't afford it then how will they play later?

Who's going to "waste" their money? Well, me for one. And my two other buddies for 2 & 3.

It's not a "waste" to some of us that like to bless other people, expecting nothing in return. (We did that little deed anonymously.)

And the biggest wall to people actively playing our sport is the initial cost of the equipment...not the cost of air, field fees, OR even the paint itself.

If the industry would lower the prices of equipment, I can gurantee you we'd see an explosion in the number of people that actively participate in our sport...

Anyway, I don't see it as a "waste" at all AK47. This summer alone, I've had a hand in getting 4 new people to join our adrenaline pumping sport... Without playing a game myself! (Soon to be 5 after the "Random Acts of Kindess" Squad hits again...)

You guys need stickers for touneys that say "5 random acts of kindess and 5 whelps on your ghetto arse!"
Either that or "5 random acts of kindness just bunkered your sorry butt!"

Well...maybe not something that politically incorrect.....

Actually, the biggest promotion I feel would be to hire an edito for APG, because they apparently don't have one. I can't imagine anyone seeing the sport in a positive light when they read, say Co2 mail. Or half the ads in the magazine with typos. Or articles that don't know the difference between "its" and "it's" and "their," "there," and "they're."
Because frankly, I see major typos even in the product reviews! Idiots, go hire a friggin editor that doesn't play for the BE Allstars!
Most every magazine you get gets letters that are extremely porly written, and then prints them and responds to them, with the exception of PGI and the like.
Face it guys, part of what gives the woodsball and scenario ballers a bad rap is picking up APG, seeing a whole bunch of people in camos shooting shockers with a gravity fed hopper twisted the wrong way and a caption like "Holding off the Invading Germans". Or maybe reading a letter like

"Hi, my name is Jake I shoot a hiley upgraded Stingray II with 9v revy hopper and a 20 oz Co2 You guyz r the best mag I've evere red and I've taken out three Spyders with this gun. Piece guys."

If APG wants to be a serious mag, then PLEASE don't print technical articles explaining to take off the thread saver before screwing on the tank.

Paintball mags that are sold at Wal-mart and the like need to shape up, because right now they are garbage.

You know, I may just have to suggest that team name to my buddies. Wouldn't that be a hilarious team name? "The Random Acts of Kindess Squad". Heh. Hm.....

What's wrong with Shockers? :(

The Random Acts of Kindness Squad could be nicknamed RAKS. The jerseys could be of women's chests...you know...racks...

I'll go home now...

No, nothing's wrong with shockers, it's what the REST of the sentance has that makes the point relevant. Who uses a gravity feed hopper on a shocker?

My point right here ===> (point)

Ebonclaw, hate to be a smartass to you, but on several occasions, when there were a bunch of newbies at the field and almost no experienced players out there, I caught a glimpse of a guy being nice and putting a gravity hopper on his angel instead of the revvy. He didnt wanna play pump that day for some strange reason. It's beyond me, y'all know how I am, any excuse and I'll pull out a pump gun . :D

Popular Mechanics just put in a friggin rgeat article that seemed super promotionary of Paintball, not one bad thing about paintball in their. They even put in that there are less reported injuries to insurance compenies in Paintball than with golf, that is when they are following the standard safety rules...but they did a great job.
