For a college class , I am comparing and contrasting the psychological differences between different types of paintball players...aka frontmen, backmen, flankers, snipers, team captians etc..
I just want to know what you guys think about when you are on the field....fears, adrenaline, basically everything you think about while the field. Thanks a lot fellow paintball players.
All of your input is appreciated and proper citations and documentation will be used.
Thanks again,
Brandon

There are two types of ways that you can think. The first is way is the fear of being hit and eliminated. Not so much from any pain but of getting out and not being able to help anymore. Playing the game of paintball as one of survival.
The second way is realizing that sometimes you have to take chances. The idea that you'lll be more useful risking yourself trying to get the enemy out. This way your playing paintball as a game of elimination.
Both philosophies are feasible, and although the "survival" way of thinking appears to have a negative conotation, you generally need a balance between both to make a good team.
Passiveness and activeness... :)

I'm not thinkin any true player can mess with fear. If u've gotta deal with fear and the game at the same time it never really works out in ur favor. Playin smart is different then palyin with fear but its all a mind-set. Anywayz i alwayz play for elimination. Where can i get, who can i take out and where do i need to end up to best help my team. Most of the time i get used as a runner, cause i've got a lil insanity streak, and besides that i don't have a prob with gettin nailed from all sides. Ya just kinda have to put it all out of ur mind and figure that if u don't get the job done no one will. Its not alwayz the truth but ya gotta think that way or u'll alwayz find urself relying on someone else to do ur work and thats not a team. Idk kinda pulls me back to a lil quote "ya got nothin to fear but fear itself", and theres almost nowhere more true to that than paintball. Anywayz theres my say

Dude don't say flankers or snipers. Try and talk about the tourny side of paintball, don't make this sound like a war make it sound like a sport.

snipers are generally characterized as shooting from far away with high powered rifles... now would you care to explain to me how you can shoot from farther away than anyone else on the field if you all chronie in at the same speed

Thanks everyone for all of your input...the hell is finally over, lol. I actually changed my subject title a little bit. I compared and contrasted the skills and personality types used in life and the skills and positions played in paintball...I think it will be a strong B paper or so...and no I didn't steal an article from APG, lol....that did add humor to my unrelenting hellish day.
Thanks again
