I've have my Black Dragun for a few months now and have been out 4 or 5 times with it, but I always play woods and it's been a great gun for me. Good accuracy, great fire rate, easy to maintain. I bought the marker slightly used with a regular 9v battery already in it, and I've shot about a case through it in about 15-20 hours of play, and it's still going strong. I've heard a 9v in an E-99 might last you one day...
The only problem I've had is that the trigger is *very* sensitive, and I've managed to give my position away a couple of times while crawling through the brush when I've accidentally hit the trigger.

If you want a hybrid electro, go with an E-99.

Forgot to mention the upgrades...
The Pi-E1 comes with a mini-expansion chamber, regulator, and drop forward. They're pretty basic units that aren't in the same class as, say, a Palmer reg, but if you're not playing high-intensity, waste-a-case-of-paint-per-game speedball, they're probably sufficient (they are for me...).
You'll probably want a new barrel. I have a PMI Razzor barrel that works well, and I'd guess that a LAPCO Bigshot would work well too.
I've been considering getting a new trigger; the Black Dragun has a metal frame (unlike the E-99), but the trigger is plastic. Check-It Products sells a couple of different metal triggers that allow you to tighten up the trigger pull even more.
I've also heard good things about the delrin bolts. They cycle more smoothly that metal bolts, giving the marker less kick and improving accuracy.

Go with a Smart Parts barrel.

No, a Bigshot won't make it any quieter. They're known for their accuracy, not for their silence. To get a quieter gun, you need a barrel with lots of porting, which decreases the efficiency of the marker (requires more CO2 to launch the ball). I haven't tried any "quiet" barrels with the Dragun, so I don't have any recommendations for you there.
As for the grip getting hit, I wouldn't worry about it. The circuit board is well protected and doesn't look particularly fragile, and the grip covers fit tightly. I doubt that any significant amount of paint could get inside it.
There's one other thing I like about the Black Dragun over the E-99 or any other rear-cocking marker. I used to have an Autococker (we never did get along well) and I hated the fact that the bolt slammed back towards my face when I fired. Sure, there's the beaver tail to protect your lenses, but it's still possible to smack yourself in the mask if you're not careful. The Black Dragun is cocked by pulling back on the cocking knob like many other rear-cocking markers, but once it's cocked the knob does *not* move back when firing. You can put you're face right up to the back of the marker with no fear of getting punched in the face.

I think Midknight's right -- some of the Smart Parts barrels are supposed to be quiet. All I've ever used were the Lapco barrels and the PMI Razzor I have now, neither of which are quiet. You might want to look in another forum that covers barrels for discussions on how quiet a particular brand or model may be.

All Black Dragon variants are spyder clones so...................All Black Dragons can accept spyder threaded barrels. You don't need a "black dragon" treaded barrel. Pretty much all barrels come in spyder threaded versions. It's pretty quiet, although a 2k2 All-American is quieter.

A teardrop will run you about $50 and the 2k2 All-American is about $75 (with colored fronts available for an additional $10). Also, if you buy the All American, you can exchange the fronts and eventually change it into a Freak by changing out the back. As for accuracy, the 2k2 is insane.

If you're gonna buy a black dragon, don't buy the old base model. Buy an LCD or something like that. I'm going to tell you that the black dragons are really not that good of a gun until you upgrade them. You're gonna need a revy to start with, and if you want any accuracy whatsoever, you'll need a barrel (one of the two I suggested would be perfect).

is that all the upgrades i would need to make it good or what eals would i need to make it good

If you really want to make it a good preforming spyder type, you need a new LP chamber, a nice expansion chamber (the ACI 6 stages are good), a bolt, and probably a drop forward (Shocktech would be good for a BD). There are some other things, most of the rest are just personal prefrence. Also you WILL NEED a revy, you'll start outshooting that gun real soon.
