I am getting a expansion chamber for my tippmann 98 custom and I heard it was really hard to get on. I was wondering if anyone had put it on, on their own. Should I just send it to tippmann and get it put on there. I don't really have a lot of paintball stores around. And the one thats near doesn't sell it or put it on because they said it was to hard.
thanks:eyes:

they said it was hard to install an expansion chamber on a tippmann? what kind of paintball store is this? If I were you I wouldn't go back there again. Tippmann's, although not as easy to field strip as many other guns, aren't that bad and are pretty basic. So if they say its hard, its either 1. they are lazy or 2. cause they really dont' know how.
In any case, its not that hard, but if you want it to look professional I would either find another paintball place or take it to tippmann. I had my expansion chamber installed awhile ago at a store when I first started playing and it has the exact size hose required for me drop foward and everything. But my friend, who copied my exact setup, installed it himself and he didn't have the right connectors for the hose nor did he have the right length hose and so it looks like a cheap install. But if you have the parts and feel confident to install it, its not too bad, just follow the schematics that came with the gun.
Installing the chamber is not hard, its opening the gun for the first time and making sure you don't have parts flying everywhere and not know where they go. Thats the hard part.
good luck

this is how u install a expansion chamber.. get the vertical adapter thing.. put that on.. then take off ur front handle and screw it on.. its not that hard and may take 30 minutes at the max if u have never taken apart your gun before.. its basically like screwing on a co2 tank then u just gotta get the hoses run from the chamber to the asa adapter

Just to let you know be careful when putting the vertical adapter on. Brass threads going on to aluminum. It is very easy to cross-thread so just go slow with that part.

For me the hardest part about installing the vertical adapter was getting the steel hose out of the freakin valve! I'm a pretty strong guy , but that took some real effort.

It is kinda tricky and will take some time. Yeah really watch out when you make the connections, you can cross thread it rather easily. Yeah I couldn't agree more, the hose was a pain in the ***:pissed: But in the end, you'll be glad that you had it in:)

ok the expansoin chamber is as easy to install as putting on tank and connecting it to the bottomline, the more chalenging part, however is putting on the vert, bottle adapter, you must not use the adapter rod as a crank handle, sometimes it hasbeen knows to not seal right in the aluminum threads whith the applying pressure so far to the outside of the male threads and strip. i put mine on mysely and it works fine no leaks and it looks awesome:) :) :) :)

i just got a vertical adapter and yesterday i went to put it on and i couldn't get the hose off. I probably could if i really tried but i don't want to snap the valve. Are there any tricks to getting it off?

Yes. Use a wrench. Thats what i used, after like 30 minutes of wrestling with it. It might feel like ur gonna break something, but u won't. And if ur threads get bent or something, just use a little extra loctite :)

ahh yes, the dreaded vertical adapter installation. trust me---it really isn't all that hard. the first gun i ever owned was a tippmann and i ordered it with and xchamber and vertical adapter. i put it on the day i got it without problems. i'd never seen the insides of a maker before that. it's not all that tough, JUST FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS and remember that you really can't F up a tippmann without the jaws of life.:D

Oh yeah, and when you take your gun apart, especially for the first time, watch for flying parts. My first time, I lost my ball latch without even noticing. For the next 3 weeks I was 2x and even 3x feeding. Just a tip.:D
