I got my tippmann m98 for my birthday and was messing around with it, you know just getting orientated. The barrel plug was in, the safety was on, it wasnt cocked, there was no CO2 connected, the CO2 tank was empty, the hopper wasnt on, and the balls were still in their container, sealed! I was just playin around and aimed at my cousin and was like bam bam, you know just foolin. My parents jumped on me. Not literally but they were like "DONT Do that!". I was like "why not? It wont shoot". They acted like there could be some malfunction to where the gun would cock itself, there would majically be a ball in it, the barrel plug would fall out, the saftey would turn off and the ball would shoot without CO2. I told them nothing could happen and in an attempt to save themselves from being apparantly ignorant they said "Well you shouldn't get in the habit of aiming at people". I know they were just trying to be safe, but come on im not a moron and what the hell! SHould get in the habit of aiming at people. I said to em with a laugh "Shouldnt get in habit of aiming at peopel!? How do you expect me to play!?!" I understood that the meant people that arent playing or as habit of shooting anyone for enjoyment, but come on can you get any more ignorant!? I am 15

It's good to practice gun safety. If you're around other people, you shouldn't point the gun at them just because it builds bad habits. What happens when you have a real gun that you don't think is loaded?
It's sort of like scoping people with rifles when you're hunting. The chamber is empty and usually the magazine but you don't always know for sure and if it becomes a habit you might stop checking.
Just something to consider.

Yea I know. And they know that I know that, I have a bb gun that Ive had for years and they *****ed me on all that stuff way back. In the scenario you mentioned with a gun having an empty magazine you just never know...it was a paintball gun with the safety on bp in no CO2 connected, no hopper, and there is no way all of those could have failed at once. Heh Im just being an *** :D

What if there was still enough air in your regulator to fire a shot or two? What if paint was left in the chamber. What if part of your bolt flew out and killed them?
Not likely but very possible, especially when you consider all the millions of people that could have pointed "safe" guns at friends in the last 20 or so years.

Oh yea I forgot, I had never screwed the tank in or even mounted the hopper, let alone put paint in it.

Had you forgotten that your siblings/parents/pets may have dry-fired your marker around the house when you were gone?
This is fun...

I don't know about you guys but my bros and I mock fight at the house when we aren't playing paintball. My parents are so used to us doing this that they don't even comment about it. Of course it is like you said the chambers are empty, the tank is off and we just cleaned our guns after a day of play. After I turn my tank oif I fire a bunch of times into the ground and it to me is safe. I think I've been playing too much outlaw ball though. I don't think my bros give even a second thought as to safety concerns. I guess we just trust each other and know that a paintgun can't defy the laws of physics and fire from nothing.

Yeah i know how you feel i pulled my spyder flash outta the box when i got it popped the battery in and started messing with my trigger and seeing how light it isin our kitchen and my mom comes in and starts yelling at me to get out of the house with a gun and what if you shot someone and all that. Then a second or two later my dad walks in and we start taking it apart and he has it loaded and with co2 in it walking around the house with the safety off and she doesnt say a word!!!

Although they may have freaked a bit too much, I kinda agree with your parents too. Yea, it wasn't gassed up, etc. but it's still not good to get into the habit of doing that.
Quick story:
I was around 10 or so when I got my first BB gun. I don't remember the reason I had gotten it (probably showing my friend), but I cocked the gun, and dry fired it several times to make sure there weren't any BB's that could possibly be fired (I emptied it out when I was done with it as well). I was goofing around with the gun (cocked) and pointed it right at my friends sister's eye (I mean, like... a few inches from her eye). I was gonna pull the trigger and have that puff of air hit her in the eye.. I thought about what my parents said about not doing that and decided not to. As they were leaving, my friend made some joke so I took the gun and just aimed it at his leg and fired. He went home with a welt on his leg. Luckily I hadn't pulled the trigger earlier when I pointed the gun at his sisters eye.
yea, you can say "well, I can see there's no ball in the barrel, and there's no gas anyway" ... yea, I shook the gun (to listen for the BB's) and dry fired it several times before the incident I had... what's your point? I'd rather just not do it and never run the risk of something happening than do it and end up regretting something.
Listen to your parents, they're just looking out for you.

I never point a gun at anybody unless I actually intent to shoot them with a paintball, you NEVER know what can happen.
'' anything that can go wrong will ''
also its rude, I would'nt want some jack/as/s pointing a gun at me

My parents are pretty cool about things like that, they think a paintball gun is like a nerf gun. I was in my room with my genesis (spyder internals) just shooting out the window
at stuff. and I also wrote blaze77 in paint on the back of our barn. It took 2 minutes and 67 paintballs, It's gone now
THANK YOU RAIN....
