First, let me apologize for what youre about to read. I know there are a million and a half of these out there, But I really have to know. I wnat to know, from people who own Impys (not vision) and cockers (vertical feed) what they like about there marker. Im getting so tired of my rebel breaking down constantly (reuined my last three trips). Ive been playing for about a year, and try to go twice a month, so would it maybe be a better idea just to get anouther blow-back (spyder or piranah)? Keep in mind that I am rather technically inept, and that I live in seattle, So i do a fair bit of playing in the rain. Ive compared them side by side, but I really think I need to see the pluses and minuses of both from people who play with them on a consistent basis. Once again, sorry about a repeat thread like this. Thanks for your help.

well i had a 2k1 vert feed cocker and i didnt like it.... it was slow, the trigger pull was long (sto 3 way, wgp hinge) (it was like 5 mm) although, it was easy to maintain
if you want speed get whatever with an eframe, if your nuts get the cocker

Impys are great guns and very easy to maintain. I've never had any serious problems, really only one in the entire time I've owned the gun. It really wasn't that bad, the stock gauge on my regulator got shot and started leaking. My local pro shop fixed it in about 45 seconds (just a new gauge). That being said, they're one of the best guns out there in my opinoin. I've shot a lot and I still keep comin back to my Impy.

i have an impy. i am in love. i would advise it. even if there were no performance benefits (which in my honest opinion that list is huge) i just have one thing to say IF YOU ARE UPGRADING DUE TO SICKNESS OF BREAKING DOWN THEN YOU MAY AS WELL BLOW YOUR OWN BRAINS OUT BEFORE GETTING A COCKER it will WILL break down more.

There's another very similar thread in here right now, so I'll just copy what I wrote in there. Hope this helps.
I have a Vision Impulse, my wife shoots a GX-3 'cocker. I prefer the 'cocker. It's smaller, lighter, almost as fast and just as quiet. It also doesn't chop, just pinches... she's never broken a single ball in 4 or 5 cases. They both have Freaks, so accuracy isn't an issue... they're both dead on, ditto for consistancy as we both use HPA. The GX-3s trigger pull is short enough that it's hard to short stroke.
The only advantage of the Impulse is the higher ROF, but it's not that much faster to be much of an issue. If it were up to me, I'd take take the cocker in a second... but it's not up to me... try them both and decide for yourself.
I'll add a note about reliability... again, my vote goes to the 'cocker. When she pulls it out of her case, she never thinks "is my battery ok?", "is my board gonna fry if it rains today?", "Is the solenoid clean?". She turns on the air, and the 'cocker is ready to go. It just works. She doesn't mess with anything, puts some oil on the bolt and in the ASA and it's good to go.
If you're 'cocker is unreliable, you've probably been messing with it.

well I have a question of my own... what's better, an automag or an autococker? The Mag seems like it would be simpler and also smaller...

Mags and cockers are very different, but at the same time very much alike. Shoot them both and decide for yourself. What tipped the scales for me was when I was at my local field one day and there where 5 cockers. 4 of them broke or untimed themselves during the day, that was when I knew that I made the right choice buying my mag. I love my mag!

By what I read and talked with, a cocker should go good with timing for 6 months to a year, and WON'T untime even wih hits to either blocks.
Get over the wining about timing Mike.
P.S.-Mags aren't better. They are simplier, smaller, and less matience, but are heavier, slower, less popular, and louder. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

What made all those cockers go out of whack then? Angry autococker gnomes?

It was like 1 out of 4. If all the other were self un-timing, how come they were back in the next game. Did those cocker gnomes fix that?
And how come like 7/8 of all non-electro tourny players use cockers?
Good point FrontMan.

I have an impulse and I love it. I still can't find anything wrong with it. It shoots extremely nice with extremely high ROF. It is unbelievable, not only does it perform well but it screams at you to shoot a case or 2 through it

I have used both a mag and a cocker, and I would take my cocker over a mag any day. Mags have so hard and long of a trigger pull, compaired to a cockers which is really light ( also short with a hinge ). Plus cockers feel so much better to me.
