Hey I got a standard Stingray II gun and I need some kind of way to make it quieter. I didn't get any upgrades yet and am thinkin about gettin a new barrel. I need to know if there is some way to cushion the bolt without causing problems and where can I get a good deal on a good barrel...I plan to upgrade to a different gun eventually but I wanna work with this because it will help hone my skills better than if I had a better more expensive gun and then when I do get a better gun I'll be great. I just need to know of ANY and all upgrades or modifications that I can add to my gun to help me handle it better without spending a fortune. I don't need the most expensive equipment or the best equipment, just something to lessen those little anoyances that come along with owning a stingray.
A damn fool

Holy ****, u listned to me. U could start off with a tank cover, that stops it form being an amplifier and being as loud. I dont know the insides of a stringray too well, but maybe buy bpadding the striker, if u have it or not, i dont know, that might help ( a piece that attaches to the bolt.
U could also fill up your trigger frame with tissue papper, t prevent amplifing, and pad ur sear and trigger so as to not get a ringing noise. The barrel will help too.
Im not an expert on the stingray, im just giving u ideas i did to my shutter to work with, and u could fool aournds. I mean, the wors thting that could happen is u have to take the stuff out of your gun. It s worth trying though, the paper and padding along with a tank oer would onyl cost 8 bucks, so hey, give it a try.
Dude, listen to me... For the barrel, get a LAPCO Bigshot from G3 Paintball, along with the Remora. It's about 63 bucks including shipping, but it's well worth it. You might also want to get their barrel plug; it's great. As for making it quieter, you could install a block into the trigger frame. Go to STING (the link is on the Stingray review page.) and read the bottomline page in the modifications section. Cut out a block of oak that size, get some brass inserts to screw the bottomline into, and epoxy the thing in there. Mine is substantially quieter.
The neoprene tank cover would also help, and get a hopper cover as well, they deaden ball rattle. Venturi bolts are supposed to help too, I hear.
And last but not least, replace the ball detent. Find a rubber, plastic, acrylic, or other soft synthetic ball 9mm in diameter, and replace the steel one that comes stock. It should help to reduce noise. ***IMPORTANT*** You MUST do this BEFORE you get a new bolt, because shooting too much with the stock detent installed will dent it. If your stock bolt does not have too big of a ding in it, smooth it down, and you should still be able to use it, but replace that ball detent as soon as you can.
Thta's all I can think of right now. Hope I helped.
