It would work fine. I do it

Yeah, it'd be fine, but you would lose practically all the advantages of Nitro.

not true, nitro would still be much more consistent than co2,
it also is not affected by temparature changes,
however, one added advantage of rinning low pressure on nitro over co2 is if you get liquid in your gun, it can shoot really hot, with nitro this will not be a problem

Taken from tippmann's website...
" Although the stock 98 Custom will operate on nitrogen without the kit, there is very little advantage over CO2 because the internals are not designed for a high pressure system. When we design a gun to operate on CO2 we have to take into consideration a large variety of pressures ranging from an empty bottle all the way up to 3,000psi, where the rupture disc fails. CO2 changes pressure as the temperature changes, the higher the temperature the higher the pressure. Granted we cannot cover the entire pressure range, so we shoot for the most common operating pressures. These pressures are 300-2,000psi. In order to have a gun function through this pressure range, without a large velocity variation, we sacrifice some efficiency and overall gun comfort. With a high pressure system we are only working with one set operating pressure. ... i. By changing the configuration of the valve and rear bolt we can obtain better efficiency, less recoil, and a more consistent shot to shot velocity. "

Yes, that is coming from the website that is trying to sell you that item. Come on. Running nitrogen on a stock tippmann is just fine, not only that but you will have the benefit of much greater consistancy. It is similar to running nitrogen on a stock spyder, or other comparable marker. It also will not freeze up your bolt, which can happen when running co2.
