its great, the plastic is soft so you get less breaks but i shyed away from it when i heard they didnt make thermal lense upgrades for it.... is this true?

That is false. You can get a Thermal lens for the Skul, where I don't know.

they're great but I'm going with a proteus instead. just a tad bit more comfier I'll probably pick one up anyways. gotta be the clear one though for sure.

I have the sheridan prowler mask, which is the EXACT same thing as the skul. I like it alot. you can also get thermal lenses at the sheridan website.
