olympic paintball??

why isnt paintball an olympic sport?? how many of you guys think it should be? why or why not??

basketball wasnt created in ancient greece and they still play like just like many other sports paintball could be in olympics but i doubt youll ever see it because most people think paintball is "dangerous"

Don't give up on it quite yet they are planning on introducing BALLROOM DANCING! It was a demonstration sport this year.I am hoping that we can get it in the X-Games a few years.

As much as I hate to say it, I don't think Paintball belongs in the Olympics. Neither does synchronized swimming, though. Or any of those quote unquote "sports" (note the heavy sarcasm). I guess I'm just a purist when it comes to stuff like this. Personally, I think the best Olympics would only feature sports like hockey, basketball, track, ice skate racing, gymnastics, and stuff like that. Track & Field, traditional sports. I don't like really untraditional stuff in there that doesn't "fit" with the whole Olympics idea. Like Ballroom Dancing. Or Ribbon Dancing. Or Ice Dancing.

On the other hand, I think paintball is a PERFECT fit for the X-Games. I'm sure it will be a part of it in the next 5 years. Paintball is catching on so quickly it amazes me. 4 years ago nobody was playing in my town, and now I barely know any guys under 20 who DON'T play.

FSU is right on this one. All of those "sports" don't belong in the Olympics. They have many other competitions that they can be in. They don't belong in the Olympics.

paintball is a game it think not a sport that is too oriantated with the equipment so for that reson i don't think it will ever be in the olympics for a long time

Look at all the other crap you have in the olympics..darts, lawn bowling and a bunch of other stupid boring things. If paintball was in it'd make things much more exciting..but I think it'd be better off in the Xgames.

I'd like to see paintball as an Olympic sport, but I don't think it's gonna happen. The Olympics are supposed to be a place where all the countries of the world can gather in peace, and there are too many idiots out there who think we're "playing war". (But they do play soccer don't they?)

If it happened, the variety of countries involved would be pretty small. You have European countries, US & Canada, then odd teams around the world. Europe & N. America would be the only contenders, unless Africa...

bently had a real good point, although paintball is safe, encourages teamwork and sportsman ship, and is one of the few sports where anybody can play, from an overweight old man, to an energetic preteen boy and still be equally as good.
I've seen lots of huge guys diassapear behind bunkers like nobodies business, and some skinny guys with their butt, a foot and an elbow exposed out the back. that's the beauty of paintball.

however in many countries there are laws being made on it (however same with guns) but in most sports the equipment is equal, and it's a test of skill not machinery, however you could restrict almost everything, ROF, Paint used, modes (obviously semi only)and so on.

In the winter olympics i think they should have speedball becuase snowboarding and stuff is now in that so maybe they should be included in that but still i think its more likely to be in the x- games if anything
