I would say that the Smart Parts All American is probably the best. What kind of gun do you shoot?

actually dye boomys are quiter than AA's, despite the butt load of porting on an AA. they are quieter cuz of the stainless back and a diff bore design. ask anybody with the same two barrels.

Yeh Boomers are better but you can get AA's for $50 at http://www.firstcallpaintball.com .

After doing some comparison tests, I was wrong. The boomstick is quieter than the AA.

Super Nick

The Dye SS looks like a pretty good barrel. My friend just got one for his automag. I'll let you know how it performs.

its a sweet barrel and if your gun is backheavy..it will even it out perfectly cause the stainless steel is a little heavier then all alluminum barrels
its a sweet barrel and its micropolished babybutt smoothe on the inside
if you put it up to the sun and look down inside the barrel, it will hurt your eyes
SOOOOOO SMOOOOOTHEE

How does the Dye SS compare to the boomie and AA as far as quietness goes?

what type of paint matches the SS's bore?
AllOleander

the Dye SS is a medium bore size. It is advertised at .691, but i have found it to go w/ anything in the .689-.691 bore size category.
This means that any of these should work fine:
RPS Premium
RPS Premium Gold
RPS Bigball
Proball Lite
Zap Select
Zap Classic
Zap Advantage
Zap Proseries
Zap Prosport
BE TopBrass
Powerball
Diable Blaze
PMI
and i've shot lots of marbs through it and it shot fine
I don't own a boomy or an AA anymore so i can't do a test for you, i would say its a little louder then the AA and Boomy, but its still a fairly quiet barrel

I'd probably say the quietest barrel on the market, Is the DYE SS, that sucker is quiet..!
BOBO2
07-15-2001, 02:59 PM
The Boomer is quieter than the SS and a little less conspicuous than the SS because it's got a mirror like shine.

yah well theres Stainless steel for you.its also a quite a bit heavier then the alluminum boomer..but its great barrel

What is the big deal with weight? My first gun was a Tippmann 98 with a flatline, EX. chamber, and dropforward. That with a full hopper and 20oz steel tank was not light but it was not a big deal. I'm not a big guy but the weight of my gun does not bother me, so what is a barrel going to do.

I think heavy barrels are not bad at all. They will balance out a blow back with a large tank and a drop forward. That's actually part of the reason I decided to go with the Dye SS

Yeh I agree. I don't have a SS now but I like a gun that feels sturdy. The guns weight does not bother me at all.

it does matter to SOME people, that is why i mentioned it..chill out mofos :)

Hey, I'm not mad or all overheated or anything, I know, some people dont' like weight. I was just saying that there is a good side to a heavier barrel, too, and you should look at yourself, you style of play, and your setup. :D I'm such a diplomat... hahaha...

I'm not flaming ether I just don't see the big deal about the weight. I know people that do, but I don't get there reason because my gun is heavyer than than theirs is but I still play just as good. But don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with light guns. And ALLOleander I'm deafinitly not mad I must have worded it wrong but I just want to know why weight is so important to some people, I'm not here to make enemys.

hehe do youi guys see my smilie face after the word mofo..that means im KIDDING!! i feel the love in the thread
but you two are correct the weight factor of the SS can be good or bad depending on what kind of player you are. your gun could be backheavy and the ss could even it out, or if your gun is perfectly balanced and you put a 16" ss on there it might throw the weight
so i suggest to all you that are considering buying the ss, thik about your ssetup, and your future setup before you buy one. might wanna go to the local proshop and throw one on your marker and see how it feels to you, balace and all

That depends on the gun and what's all on it. It might balance nicely on some guns.

has anybody ordered from that place who has the AA for 59? whats the shipping cost?
CrazyEdd

If you're talking about firstcallpaintball.com, then yes, I have ordered from them. The shipping is ups ground only, but that's ok unless you are in a real hurry. It's fairly cheap anyway...

should i get the 10" or 12" Dye SS?
CrazyEdd
07-16-2001, 02:17 PM
I like short, so i went with the 10" I can't tell you what to do tho, but any longer than 12 would really start to feel funny for me. Oh, and if you are running lp, get the 10. The extra porting on the 12 will cut down on your performance.

I liked my 12 alot but I needed money so I had to sell it but the 12 performed better than any barrel I'v owned.
