I am thinking about putting a remote on my Tippmann 98. I have seen some with just a quick disconnect and some with just a slide check err somthin like that. Is there any diffrence having a remote with all this extra? And what is the purpose of the quick disconnect and slide check??

Good question! I know that a quick change is like a smaller version of like air tool changers, like a pop change.. dont know what the slider is! I want to know too!

a slide check is this thing taht cuts off the air to your gun, so that you don't waste it.

a disconnect and slidecheck are often used together so taht you can cut the air off to your gun, and then disconnect the hose to your gun in no time.

i don't like them either. They always got in my way. ALso, they are more prone to leaking htan an Expansion chamber is. I don't really like how my gun balances with a remote, and maked my harness heavy(my old one) it's all personal preference though.

i thought it was, but then i had a 6+1 with 140 tubes..i was going mad overkill with teh paintballs. Also, if you get a stock, then it won't feel lopsided. I had a stock, but it got in my way...that's why i didn't like it

Got a queastion  When you run wont the co2 on your back make it harder to run?? It could easly slip off and also be a pain to carry.

Alright thanks guys.. I will have to look some more on finding a remote with a slide check and disconnect. Ebay or wherever..

it won't slip off. The Co2 tank is strapped into the harness, although some harnesses won't hold Co2 tanks.

Ya I just figured that. But is it hard to run with one on your waist.?? Cause I would think it would be hard to cause it could slip off or something even though you said they dont.

my harnesses have never slipped off before. It gets used to having a little weight on the back, but you do get accustomed to it. what really bothered me was taht STUPID remote coil...urgh that always snagges somthing or got tangled in the WORST situations..

I used to run remote.and I liked it.....but now I don't....because my new tank doesn't fit in my harness...(of course)..never lost my tank.....they are strapped in pretty good.ad for it getting tangled......I used a clip.and cliped the hose to my harnesses D-ring.so it kept it close to my body and I didn't get tooo much pull back....

worked well for me..I just am not going to buy ANOTHER harness....rather I got a DZ2 instead...

I have to say I like the idea and the look of a gas thru stock with a remote however my buddy gets his coiled remote snagged on his harness the tube holder snag it and he goes to raise his gun and you can almost hear him mumble under his breath from across the field like this one time he went to charge a guy dove through the air avoiding crossfire from an opponent and just as he raised his gun in the air to fire the remote snagged and like a dog trying to run while still chained to the post... darn near planted the muzzle of his barrel into the ground .... so yes they re nice and no they are bad but one thing is for sure THEY WORK AWESOME AS AN EXPANSION CHAMBER HANDS DOWN THEY ARE THE GREATEST IN COLD WEATHER!!

a remote also limits your weak hand shooting..you also have to contend with the damn thing pulling it out of your hand..as well as trying to shoot..

I have never had problems with a tank slipping out. I use remote and think it works just fine for rec ball in the woods. Where I found the remote to be a pain is on a speedball fields. The remote restricts your movement, and I don't like to wear a pack when playing speedball. I like to be able to run, jump, and crawl. Not to mention that the pack can stick out making you a bigger target. Switching hands is a little more diffacult with a remote. I'm looking in to going to a on marker set-up now.

I got a coil remote,i got a 4+1 bluez pack, it sits in the middle of your back more than your hip.In speed ball i use a side pack for my tank.that way you can go to either side with out too much of a hassle. I got a gas thur stock i use sometimes but it dont feel right too me. My friend hates is, so it all in what feels good too who ever.

From what I understand, a remote functions similar (if not identical) to an expansion chamber (Please correct me if I'm wrong). I was talking to someone whos an experienced paintballer and he told me that it was recommended for me to get an expansion chamber even tho I run a remote.

My question: Is an expansion chamber really necessary if I run a remote?

The way I feel is it doesn't get cold enough here to warrant the purchase of an expansion chamber in my humblest of opinions.

I thought that the idea of a remote was to get the tank off of your marker. The fact that it acts like an X-chamber is just a nice bi-product(sp) of having the remote. As far as cold and the M98, they work very well in the cold. I was playing last Nov. there was about 15 of us most had spyders or sypder knock offs. The only two markers left after about an hour were my Shocker and a friends 98. He had a on-gun setup. I live near Chicago. It was about 28 degrees out. So If you are going to run a remote I don't think you would need the chamber. Unless you live at the north pole ;) Just MHO.
