View Full Version : Slightly ashamed

well, if you have been round these forums for any amount of time, you will probably know that i am a great supporter of the stock impulse, and that i argue that no upgrades are needed to make the impulse a great marker, but i have now deviated from this and am slightly ashamed.

you see... whilst visiting planet eclipse in Manchester i was very tempted and now have an eclipse delrin dart bolt, an eclipse compact drop forward, and dye sticky grips

now, that is not to say that the stock impulse isn't great, its just that I was offered a really good deal, and i just couldn't resist.

so now i have a very nice looking impulse sitting on my table, but i must say that although upgrades are certainly a nice thing to have, they are not necessary (I will never change my stock trigger)

anyone else think this sounded kind of stupid?

me

even though you have thought that there was no need you were ignorant to the fact that upgrades are good and maybe someday you will change more parts of your gun and GET OVER the fact that there is better then stock

Yeah, that's nice.

Dr J is more annoying than anyone, he has been going around posting this thing why impulses are better than ir3's. its so stupid how he compares them

Dr J
10-13-2002, 02:45 PM
Thanks for the personal attack, but back to why we are here... it's true impulses are better than ir3s

by the way, your post says more about your charecter than mine.

god you are a moron, you cant even spell character right. have you ever even shot a ir3? or are you just going by some numbers on a paper?

You're acting like you betrayed the Impulse as a whole by making it better. I'm confused.

impulses are better than ir3's but cockers are better than both. i have shot all and a cocker takes them all any day

Heres the deal with skog....

Other than being than a limey, Skog is the king of all that is stock impulse. For more than a while, he as vehemently opposed any modifications on an impulse. He claimed that any upgrades are a waste of money because the stock impulse is fine.

Truth be told he is right to a degree. Stock imps rule. There is nothing wrong with them. At the same time, there is room for improvement.

Skog, is or was, an ideologue... he had a belief and nothing, not even physical evidence would shake his faith.

This is like the people who don't believe in evolution. I have one word for those dumb fools: Fossils- I win.

His faith was unshakable, until now. For some reason, Skog felt that it was time to upgrade. It could of been the low cost, or perhaps the mods he got will significantly change gun performance. But more than likely, he moded his gun for the same reasons that most people do. Moding is inherently fun. People like to spend money on their hobbies.

Hard to believe, but its very true. I have seen so many people on this forum looking for ways to spend money on their gun, even though the gun is working fine.

I say welcome skog. You too now have been infected with moding. Soon your gun will be a cyborg of aftermarket parts..... you will join MA (modders anonymous) an upcoming forum on pbreview.

For all of those who think that moding is necessary for a good gun. Its not. Check my sig.

leave Dr. J be, if you want to bash him talk to him, not on a forum, try not to get off topic.

Dr J

Thanks Phish,

But I have actually shot several IR3's and own an lcd, so I do know what I am talking about. In my opinion, and I stress opinion, Impulses are better.

By the way, sorry I didn't break out the spell check on character. Neither myself nor Dan Quail can spell it.

Skog
10-14-2002, 04:30 AM
basically pollacjw was very right

but i still belive in the mightyness of the stock impulse because i was tempted into upgrading my impulse...

...and now it doesn't work at all, the light won't even turn on (i've checked the battery-its not that)

Stock imps rule (but not as much as rats)

pollacjw
10-14-2002, 04:34 AM
not working eh....you now face the wrath of the stock imp gods... lord have mercy on your imp.

Skog
10-14-2002, 07:29 AM
yeah, its really annoying, it just won't turn on, i turn the switch on and nothing happebns, the led doesn't turn on, i cant get the solenoid to fire, nothing.

I have put a new battery in and still nothing, i think that one of the wires going from the battery to the board has become unsoldered, but i can't actually see any damage.

10-14-2002, 08:30 AM
Yeah, you have to be really careful with that battery hookup. My imp actually has a clock radio 9volt connector in it...can you say ghetto repair :)

Hey... my lcd is almost stock :) Does that count?

10-14-2002, 09:08 AM
alright, dr j i may have been a little childish, but serisously. you posted that paragraph you had in like 6 different forums. some not even asking which is better, just to show off. i think ir3's are almost perfect, and if i had the money. i would go for a ir3 over a imp anyday.

the thing i didnt like about his post was, imp to a ir3? why not compare a imp to a bushy or viking? people who buy ir3's want sexy reliable guns with the name ANGEL, and i'm sure they know its not going to just dwarf all other guns because of its price. i guess people want to feel good about their guns, and there is nothing wrong with that

pollacjw
10-14-2002, 10:23 AM
the funny thing about skog moding his gun is that out of all the mods, he avoided the two that most significantly increase performance. Thoes 2 being the blade trigger and LPR.

LOL

I am waiting for the LPR skog.

Skog
10-14-2002, 11:12 AM
first of all, I will NEVER give up my stock trigger, i love it, its that simple.

and second, i can't afford an LPR, not at the prices they have round here

and third, the only reason i upgraded was because it was on a very special (read: dirt cheap) offer

and no, that doesn't mean that they were cr*p upgrades, it was just that they had a sale thing on to celebrate the release of their new "scorpion" anno cocker

oh, and the delrin bolt really does improve performance more than a blade. A blade just means that you can rip faster but i can already rip on my trigger, and don't want to go any faster.

admitedly the stickies were just for comfort, and the drop was just for balance, but the bolt really did improve performance (it increased my velocity by 20fps)

its just that after that when i cleaned my imp i kind of must have sorta pulled the battery wire too hard and now it just won't work

dude dfd03 what the hell is your problem, dr j has an opinion and its not ur job to b an ***** about it just cuz u disagree, not once has he gone around and flamed somebody just like u have to him. he is just letting people know what is a better deal and there isnt much wrong with that if u ask me, so just lay off. :o

pollacjw
10-14-2002, 04:05 PM
SKOG you cheap piece of Euro trash- get the freaking LPR!
Dont make me fly over there.

What does it cost in the UK- 40 or 50? What costs so much- LPR, cocker hose, nipple?

If you want it ill buy it here and ship it to you.

Dr J

wow, relax pollacjw, yes, you are to thank for the "college package" from epbo, but if the man can't afford a college package, then he can't. Maybe they should make a package out of the iso-mod and call it the English package.

I bet he can afford his freaking English tea!

Dr. j- i understand your concern but Skog and I are tight... I am not going to offend him. At least not by telling him to get LPR.

Skog
10-15-2002, 11:34 AM
true, he isn't going to offend me, in fact i've seen pretty much everything this forum has to offer in thw way of offense over my time here.

and btw, as a rough guide to p-ball prices in the uk, take the american price in dollars, add 20% and that is the amount in pounds that it costs here.

for example, stock impulse: $400 in america, £480 in england

so basically an lpr is way out of my price range, as i am a student without a job, who is a grand in debt because he want's to study for a degree in physics with theoretical physics.

wait... is that taking into account that a pound is like $1.55?

So a stock impulse would be $744?

I was commenting on the fact that 480 pounds is a rediculously high price for an impulse. Smart ***.

Skog,
Ouch, now I understand why you are all about tweaking every last bit of performance out of your stock gun.

The good news is that if you order an LPR over the internet it still only costs like 60 dollars, not pounds.

the bad news is that it put you in debt for a grand and 60 dollars(plus s+h)

Phish, easy on the hugs, this isn't an AA meeting

hey, i'm the one who needs to pay around $750 for a stock impulse, i should deserve the hug from the super hot girl, although i probably couldn't afford the shipping to get her over here
