Hey guys, first of all thank of, thank you for answering my post (hopefully)!!

Guy I have been reading and looking and have a relly hard time decideing wwhat to get. I am planning on not spending more than $200.

I have seen Spyder TL Plus, (which i like, and read good reviews here). The Tippmann Custom 98, but i have the feeling that the sentiment for this gun is quite mixed, some say is great, but it seems to me that in order to make it worhtwhile, one must make a bunch of upgrades.

And a friend is offering me an AutoCocker STO 98 or 99 for $200. He tells me that it needs a regulator. Are these expencive? And the other question that I have...is this a good gun for a newb?

I've only been once, and compleately into the sport, great excercise both mentally and physically. I love a good challenge. :D

Also i could get a Titanium Piranha STS G2 in a package for about $160.

I know tooooo many questions....

Again thanks for your feedback!!!!

Carlos

For starters: DON'T get the Cocker. It's way too complicated for a first gun. Second, I'd avoid the m98. Once you spend enough money to get it preforming well, you might as well have bought an Impulse or Bushmaster from the beginning. I'd either go with the Shutter, E-99, or one of the Black Dragons.

I would go with the Tippman 98c. My friend has one and all he did was add a J and J ceramic 12 inch barrel to it and it shoots great very accurate and very reliable. Plus they are very upgradeable. He as made the trigger pull very short and very light on it. I owned a cocker but after puting 1400 bucks into it and seeing my friend M98 out shoot me (BPS) it was kind of disappointing. :(

I would go with the cocker. I have't noticed anyreal accuracy with them but I rather have them then a blow back

you have got be joking me!!!!! :drop:

that is impossible unless the cocker has been "lubed" with red loctite and the m98 has an Ebolt. no way.

or you just suck! (jk)

What are talking about? My friends M98 has about no trigger pull on it (2 mm or less) and my cocker had at least a 2-3 mm trigger pull on it. So YES my friends M98 would out shoot my cocker Ball Per Second wise.

I think its kind of a misconception that all cockers are inherently fast. True they are faster than some guns, but it is more difficult to fire them faster due to the way the trigger must be pulled. Now I'm not saying that cockers are slow, just that other guns can easily go faster than it.

How did you put $1400 into a cocker?

your lying, dont even say your not,. if you put 1400 into your cocker, it would use that tippy to wipe it's *****

---
BUT he put $1400 into it midknight...

Old cockers not so fast mabye, but if you put $1400 into them they would be a whole heck of a lot faster than a tippy.

and new cockers are fast.

1400 is total in everthing from tank to hopper, the whole setup.

I will agree that cockers are getting faster. WGP is beginning to pick up on speed as a major factor. Still, cockers can't match things like Angels or Trixies (except the Sandridges, those things can RIP!!!).

Going back to the crey23 original Question...

Spyders seem good for most NooB's...I see a lot of them on the field, and I also have one myself
If you want one with a regulator, get the shutter...
Other than that, TL will prolly do ya fine
Just keep reading some reviews and more people will post and suggest

Good luck man!:D

The cocker is the best out of all the guns, but I woud not recommend it for your first gun. Also yes regulators are not cheap.
I myself do not like tippmans, but many people will tell you there great. Tippmans are not the best guns if there not upgraded in my opnion.
Fishys and Spyders are pretty much the same thing. If you go with a Spyder you might want to look at the Spyder xtra instead of the TL, as it is newer and vert feed. If you want to go full auto grab a Spyder flash or e-99. Have fun playing pb!!

See what I mean? You'll get diff opinions from everyone. Do you have a local shop near you? If so try the guns out there. 85% of paintball stores will have those guns you listed

Hey guys thank you for you help. I ended up getting a Spyder Imagine with a 12 Oz Co2 tank, 9v rechargable battery, a fast charger, Vforce mask, plug, and o-ring and tools. All this for $200 :eyepop: . I think that I was a prety good buy. I only wish the tank was little larger 16oz or so.

But thanks for input!! :)

Hey Caleb.....thanks man!!!

I got it through ebay... an oline store that make packages for ebay...not bad.

The only bad thing is that one of my local pb stores told the day that I sent the payment that they would have matched the price and given me a 16oz tank instead of a 12 oz. Mind you they didn't say that the day i went to spend money!

Next time i guess...

Yea you should get a revy, but if you don't have the cash you'll be fine for awhile. That should be your first upgrade tho

Oh yeah!!!

Actually I already have one...12V Revy with x-board and a verticall alluminum Java elbow.

I also got an impeller, but it seems too small....does it really work or sould i keep the original one...seems bigger (original). BTW the impeller on my revy is the one with the curved endings...not the original flat agitator.

What do you think???

Thanks,

Carlos

To be hones with you...i don't know....

But it is clear. lol ...good description.

Actully it seems smaller than the stock one....and it has more arms....it kinda looks like a vortex, but mine has kind of rounded arms.....they are not straight like the vortex's...

Any clue?

THe vortex's impellers are curved. YOu probably have the WAS Vortex Impellers (modified J&J COncepts Impellers)

Is this it?
