I know this has been said before. But I was wondering if someone could explain in detail on how to use a non on/off tank with the max-flo.
assuming it's an anti-siphon tank matched to the asa, just screw it in

People said that you need to use an o-ring, and put it in the max-flo if its a pin-valve HPA tank. Where exactly do you put the o-ring?
ok, i wil start with the basics
on horizontal max-flo's the pin that opens the pin valve in screw in tanks is longer than normal, this means that if you try to screw in a normal tank it will simply open before going in all the way, making it useless. one way of stopping this is to put an extra o-ring in the asa so that the tank will seal before it opens.
this is not the recomended way though, sp recomend that you use an on/off. sp made the pin longer specifically so that people will use an on/off, this is because if you have an on/off you can gas up your imp slowly, that means that you will be able to see if the pressure is too high, and will be able to turn it down before it blows your solenoid, wheras if you have a screw in you can't unless you turn your max flo all the way down, gas up, and then turn it up to 180psi again, but this means that you will have to reset your dwell.
note that on vert max-flo's the pin is a standard length but it is still recomended that you use an on/off

I thought that if the pressure is too high that the max flo automatically vents the gas, and then you can twist the handle to get the right pressure. At least thats what I do..
*shrug*
it does do that, but prv's are not 100%reliable, and they may take too long to react to a high pressure so your solenoid could still get fried.
