It started ou to be a good day, that is if you don't consider the overcast and drizzle that stayed over Tampa Bay like a bad gas cloud.
Only got one game in, then the rain started ... geez, what's a guy to do on his day off?
Anyway, on the break me and two other fellows headed out to a bunker called The Woods. Unfortunately, three guys from the other team beat us to it. Plus, another guy from their team made it to a bunker called The Maze, which gave him a good field of fire to cover any approach on The Woods.
I made it to a Barrel bunker in front of the Woods that offered some protection from the guy in The Maze. One of my buddies got to a bunker behind me and was able to keep the guys in the Woods pinned down.
My first priority was to get the guy in The Maze. We traded shots for a while, but then I managed to get his hopper. Baby Blue paint, three shots. It was obvious he was hit, but he kept firing. I called for the Ref to check him, to get him outta there. But the Ref just talked it up with two of his buddies who happened to be the guys in The Woods. Finally another Ref heard me and got the guy outta there. (The dufus tried to argue that he wasn't hit cause my paint hit his hopper. IDIOT!!).
The guys in The Woods were giving my buddy a hard time, so I figured I'd run for the Woods, on it's blind side, and try to bunker them (Understand, at the time I really only thought there was one guy inside The Woods, I couldn't see the other two on the outside of it).
As I started to move out, another OPFOR appeared out of nowhere. He was some young Newbie. I fired straight at him as I charged, and he turned and hauled Butt in Retreat.
I came up to the first window at the woods, saw the guy inside, he fired two shots, they missed (I think I may have spooked him a little) so I kept going, circling behind the building.
Got to the Window at the back of the bunker stuck my gun in and yelled for him to surrender (he was still facing out the side window where I first saw him, about four feet away from me). Here's where I got PO'd at the player and the Ref.
Our field has a "five-foot rule," you bunker someone five feet or closer, they have to take the hit, they can't turn and fire. IF they do, they're out, and you're still in. This guy turns and shoots me twice. The Ref sees this and doesn't call him out.
I'm standing there, really pumped and PO'd telling the Ref he's wrong, citing the five-foot rule, and the ref doesn't say anything. Meantime, some guy sneaks up behind me and starts unloading on me, about seven shots.
It probably unnerved the little back biter that I didn't even flinch when the balls hit me. I just stood there with my back to him, chewing out this guy in the bunker and the Ref. Believe me, it took an incredible amount of restraint not to unload on both of them and the little weasel who was shooting me in the back.
But there is some relief in after-the-fact Revenge ... I talked to the Head Ref, explained to him what happened, who then in turn, chewed out the player and the Ref who didn't make the correct call.
Unfortunatly, by that time, the rain was coming down and, deciding I didn't want to play in the mud, I went home without nailing that guy the way I wanted to.
I Can't wait until next week!!
