on what kind of gun and what size co2? for how much a regulator/expansion chamber costs you could save that money sell your co2 tank and get a small nitro tank with much better results. . . thats why i would do . . .

a regulator is always the better way to go, since it'll help your velocity stay more consistant, but ECs can be handy, especially if you're really short on cash but have liquid problems.
An ideal CO2 setup would have an anti-siphon tank...

An anti siphon tube is good to keep the liquid out of your marker.. another way is going to a remote setup..
Out of the two.. a Regulator is much better than an Xchamber one to recommend is a palmer stabilizer regulator.. they are well known to keep liquid out of your marker as well as being a very good co2 reg.

Unless you get a palmer regulator, the regulator will be almost useless without an expansion chamber.

Uh, no, there are many good C02 regs, palmers are just a good one and hyped up. WGP regs, max-flows, gladiators, sidewinders etc are all pretty good. You don't need an exp chamber before the reg.
