I've heard that the Tippmann Sniper Barrel or Flatline are best for sniping. Which one is better in terms of accuracy and distance? Or is there a better barrel than those two? I'd like to spend no more than $100.

Thanks.

the ONLY barrel that has distance is the flatline.but the flatline doesnt have the accuracy of a boomstick, freak,AA,or bigshot.all other barrels shooting at the same velocity will shoot the same distance

Wow, that was REAL MATURE.....Obviously you dont like it, but I love mine!

The Flatline is the only barrel that will give you distance! And when installed properly will be just as accurate as any other barrel! Som have had bad experiences with them, but it may be because they didnt use good paint? Install it properly? Too much velocity? If you care for your flatline, it will rock, but if you dont take time to install it right, and use smal bore it will suck!

So basically your saying I have to choose between range and accuracy? There isn't a barrel that has both?

ddc you didn't help me much if you are going to say flatlines suck then at least explain why and what problems you have had with it.

the flatline is the only barrel that has noticably longer range than any other barrel. However it's a tradeoff...even without discussing accuracy, it has other drawbacks, including size, paint selection, and setup time.

the bad thing about a flatline is that the backspin takes the velocity about the ball causing it to not break on the mofo your shooting at

Also, the spin isn't perfect since paintballs aren't perfectly round, so you'll get shots to stray, especialy if you don't shoot the marker from a nearly perfect vertical spot.

Really you shouldnt try to use the flatline to long-ball people from the other side of the field anyway. (granted, i do it form time to time, because if i have a clear shot, chances are i just might hit that dork standing out in the open with his thumb up his arse...)

What you should use the flatline for more is close-medium range engagements. they are ESPECIALLY usefull through tree branches and whatnot because if you can see a clear path to your target, you dont need to "lob" the ball to get the ball to your target. you fire straight at your target. BAM.

As i said, yes you can long ball people, but dont expect tremendous accuracy at 200ft. so many factors come into play. ball size/quality, wind, humidity, air temp, velocity, and barrel adjustment. all these things can cause you to be drastically off-target at longer ranges.

To get the best result with a flatline, spend the time to take care of it properly. feed it small bore, high quality paint with semi-thick shells. calibrate it properly using a bubble level and a vice on a sawhorse (i SWEAR by that technique, people dont tend to believe me, but it WORKS). Finally, after every few weeks, clean the inside of your barrel out using rubbing alcohol, an oversized pipe cleaner, and some warm water.

Is the flatline more work than a conventional barrel?
without a doubt yes. you should be *somewhat* technically inclined if you want to use a flatline.
Is it more expensive?
yes, it generally runs you about the same price as a freak barrel (without all the inserts)
Is it WORTH all the trouble?
This is an opinion question, but i feel the answer is YES, it gives you some in-game options that would otherwise not be there with a conventional barrel. Plus if you value an "intimidation factor", the flatline will often prompt questions, ooohs and aaaahs, and "hey can i try that thing?"

hope this helps somewhat. i admit i can be longwinded.:eyes:
