Get either a 2000 or 20001 AutoCocker (also called the 2k and 2k1).
Get the one from WGP (Worr Games Products). Do NOT get a cocker made before 1999. They are all crap. The new ones are VERY good, and the old ones are VERY bad.

You can get a cocker shipped to you for $335 total from http://www.paintballgeeks.com

You might need a bottomline, but I'm not sure about that. Other than that, you're ready to rock straight out of the box. A bottomline is about $15 at the most.

Excuse me FSU, but I own 2 cockers before 2k and two afterward and I would state that only cockers before '97 do you have anything to fear from. I would dare say that my '97 and '98 cockers have been just as reliable as my Prolite was.

If your going to go with a stock cocker, the new vertical feed stock cockers are quite nice.

Under $500? Just buy an autococker from anyplace... buy an aftermarket barrel.. that should run you about $400 by now.. and maybe spend some extra dough on getting a regulator like Palmer Stabilizer for $80.. that's close to $500... Hmm I really don't see buying an autococker will save you much money since you gotta improve on a lot of things before it is good. If you want a high end marker that's the best (from Mag/Cocker, if you can find a gun that costs $400 and can just start shooting with Co2 without worries of liquid co2 and no need for aftermarket barrel, the compact size, light-weight let me know before you start fronting) out of the box get a Palmer Blazer. $400. (Wait time is 4-8 weeks to hand make it) If you like customizing (and tinkering with insides of the marker) and plan to spend up to $750.. then get an Autococker. That $500 will get you far as : Marker, aftermarket barrel, regulator, and maybe something else.
