Be sure to add on to this veterans! These are just basic Q's for new players.

Q: Can I measure the speed of my gun without using a chronograph?

A: No, a chronograph is the only reliable source.

Q: Does it hurt to get hit by a paintball?

A: It depends on the speed of the gun, how far away the shooter was, and where you got hit. Normally a paintball hit feels about like being flicked with a rubber band.

Q: What is the best gun?

A: This is an opinion question. The gun that fits your style is perfect for you.

Q: Do I need to wear a mak when plaing paintball.

A: Yes, a mask is the most important piece of equipment in paintball. It protects your eye from possible blindness, and the face from swelling up like mad!

Q: Are a gun and marker the same thing.

A: Yes

Q: What is speedball?

A: Speedball is a game played in an open field with only wooden or air bunkers set within a usually small designated area.

Q: What is a hopper?

A: It is the loader of paintballs on top of the gun.

Q: What are the benefits of Nitrogen?

A: You have less fluctuation in velocity, no liquid going into your gun, and your gun does not freeze up in the winter.

Well, I'm tired of typing but please add-on.

hehe, you won't get a sticky if you spend all your time just TALKING about getting it... :P you have to show that it's worth it!

There are a lot of rumors that float around the forms, and i don't want new comers (noobs) to be influenced by false information. A lot of what i'm about to say is contraversal but what i'm saying has been proven and is FACT!

No marker is more accurate than the next. Plain and simple. With the proper bore match (paint to barrel match) every marker will shoot with the same precision as the next. Also a good regulator (it regulates how much air flows into your marker) effects accuracy.

Cockers are not more accurate than other markers. They are closed bolt but it has been proven that they are no more accurate than the next marker. Yes i own a cocker.

Longer barrel does not make paintballs shoot farther or more accurately. Again, it is the bore match. In lp (low pressure) markers i believe it takes 10-12" to reach full velocity and hp (high pressure) markers it takes 6-8" to reach full velocity. So that is as long of a barrel is needs to be.

Autocockers are not fully automatic. Plain and simple.

There is still a controversy on whether some markers shoot a flatter projection of the paintball than others. I can't judge this at the moment.

Side Feed vs. Verticle
Verticle feeds feed faster and keep your whole package more compact. They help evenly balance your marker. There is also personal preference. Some people just like the look and feel of a side feed vs. the verticle feed. The best way to figure out which one you like more is to hold and try a marker with a verticle feed and one with a side feed.

Distance
The distance a paintball travels is affected by your velocity. If two paintball markers have a good bore match and are shooting the same fps, then they will have the same range. The flatline barrel does increase distance the ball travels. I would like to say it is the only barrel but i think there are a couple of other barrels that do the same. The flatline barrel curves to put a spin on the ball i believe.
Without the flatline barrel in the equation (or any other of its kind) velocity is the factor in the distance equation.

I can't think of any more at the moment. I will update if one pops into my head.

CO2 vs. HPA/Nitrogen

CO2 is cost friendly for new players and will work quit well to make your marker function. The bad part is that it isn't as consistent. The liquid fluctuates with the temperature/weather. The CO2 bottle is filled with liquid CO2 and is suppose to come out as gas. This makes the bottle colder and the colder it gets the lower the fps you will shoot. In lower temperatures it also may "freeze" up your marker.
HPA/Nitrogen is compressed air or compressed nitrogen. It is more consistent and will not fluctuate with the weather (it will but not on a scale you would really care to measure it by). It is more expensive so n00bs don't really need to dive into the compressed air system yet. It costs a good bit of cash.
For beginners CO2 is a good choice and then step into the compressed world later on in your paintballing carer.

Heres a few more:

Q: What are some good upgrades for my marker?

A: Again this is a personal preference. Aftermarket barrels, drop forwards, cradles, and larger tanks are common first upgrades.

Q: What is the difference between a stock and aftermarket barrel?

A: A stock barrel is the barrel that comes with your marker while an aftermarket barrel is a barrel that is sold seperately and usually is of better quality than a stock barrel.

Q: What is an agitated hopper?

A: It is a hopper that is controlled electronically and feeds faster than gravity feed hoppers and prevents jams and ball breaks.

Q: What is a gravity feed hopper?

A: It is a normal hopper that feeds by gravity, such as the one sold at Wally World for around $5.00.

Q: Should I buy an agitated hopper?

A: It depends on if your marker shoots faster than your marker can feed.

Q: The air is leaking out of my marker where the air bottle screws in to the marker. How should I fix it?

A: Replace the O-Ring on your air bottle.

Q: Are there any professional paintball leagues?

A: Yes. One of the most popular is the NPPL ( www.npplinfo.com ).

Q: What is an expansion chamber?

A: It is a chamber that you can place on your gun that allows the liquid CO2 to expand to a gas before entering the gun, which increases the performance of your marker.

Please keep adding on.

Q: Are internet sites cheaper than pro-shops?

A: Yes, most internet sites are but it is sometimes a good idea to buy your stuff at pro-shops to begin because you get more info and friendlier service.

Q: What is the difference between vertical feed and side/power feed?

A: Vertical Feed is a feed port that is straight while a side/power feed is on an angle. Most people are going to vertical feed but there is not that much of a difference.

Q: What is a good web-site resource for paintball in general?

A: I believe the two best are:

1) The site your on now.
2) www.warpig.com
