I'm trying to decide between an Equation Multiple Switch Barrel, CP one piece, and a Smart Parts Progressive (all 12")... If I got one of the cheaper barrels I could use the extra money for more upgrades, etc. Is it worth sacrificing the extra money to get a "better" barrel (Equation Multiple Switch)? Does it make a lot of difference?

Freaks is a fine barrel system, except Equation barrel systems offer more versatility at a lesser price and better accuracy and distance. You could go and buy inexpensive barrels in order to save money for future upgrades which is fine. Just remember where the ball is exiting from when you fire your shot. Motto: Buy it right once or buy it wrong twice.

I use a Progressive on my minimag, and it works great. However, I suggest you look into the Lapco BigShot. That, and the CP barrels are both tourney-quality at low prices.
