Ok, problem. I plan on selling my gun saterday, but now i have a problem, my father. He is going off on me now bout how spendning 1200 bucks for a new gun is stupid, and that mine is fine, and bla bla bla bla. Normally, i would just sell it, and buy my own setup, but hes telling me if i sell my gun, he wont let me get my liscnece. So now what? I know i can sell my gun for 500+, but hes being a ***** bout it. He thinks my un is fine. WWhat should i do to convince him? I thought my rades would help, and even though i was 6th in my class, he still says i cant sell it now. Fuyck, ne know what to do?

if your refering to the spider your describing in your signature while it may be impressive its not worth 500. I take it since your worried that your not gonna get your licence that your like 15 or 16. Not to be a jerk but i doubt your on a pro team so i can see why dad would be upset with you dooing somthing like spending 1200 on a pbg. Where does a kid find 1200 anny ways?

Personally, I don't think you should spend $1200 on a paintball gun. You probably don't care about my opinion, though, and that's cool.
I've got a good suggestion. How about you sell your gun, then buy a stock WGP AutoCocker? Those things are GREAT! Get the new 2k1 cocker, and then get a nitro system, a new barrel, and a drop-forward. That's all you need. In fact, the stock cocker on CO2 with a stock barrel will probably shoot better than your tricked out spyder! The cockers are incredible, and the 2000 and 2001 models are incredibly reliable and durable. In fact, I think a stock cocker shoots as well as my tricked MiniMag.
I suggest you do this:
WGP AutoCocker - $325 at http://www.paintballgeeks.com
Pure Energy 68 ci 4500 psi fiber wrapped nitro system - $225 at http://www.shop4paintball.com
Use your KAPP cradle.
Use your Revolution.
Buy an All-American, or a Freak system if you get the $$$
Get the ShockTech bolt, and a new back block if you need it.
Get a new trigger frame assembly, and get a trigger job done if you want.
That's all you need to have a GREAT gun that's head and shoulders above your Shutter! The Black Magic cocker is nice, but it's not $500 worth better than the WGP cocker.

I dunno, it is tough. Tell your parents how much paintball means to you, and compare it to anyother sport maybe. Or cars, a better car is just more important. It's really hard to convince your parents, even at 18 they hassle ya about your own money. Good luck bro

when i got my guns, i didnt even run it by my parents. I did cod and i had it for like a month until they noticed it, by then it was too late for them to say you cant get it.
In ur situation i would keep telling them thats its your own money, and that when u sell ur gun ull get 500 or so, and then that means you will only be spending 700. tell them all the features the gun has, and tell them whats better about it compared to your spyder. Since i know your on a team, tell them that it will help you win some tourneys, and that can lead to new gear and maybe some cash.
you just need to be presistant about it, but dont get an attitude, they hate that.

That must suck to be you guys, my parents are all for the idea of my playing paintball, they are even helping me get my team sponsors. But I have to pay for everything I get.
I would suggest you just get a 2k cocker and upgrade it. then your parents won't know you have spent that much money on paintball.

i mean, paintball is cool, but i can deal with my gun and have my liscnce, rahter then sell it and not have my liscnce.
I dont want to buy a stock cocker and sup it up, becasue then its like going backwards. Ie already suppd up a gun. Id rather just buy the black magic, its all set for me, and its cheaper then supping the gun up seperatyl, if u think abut it. Also, im not taking ne thign of my gun, becasue if i were to take the kapp and revo off, then the gun is nothing special to them,a nd they wont give me ne money for it, those parts just add to the presentation when i sell it.
Ive found the black mgic for 725 (well, someone else did) and for the price of a vert cocker, barrel, and all the other crapp, 725 will be cheaper. 1200 comes with a revo, kapp, omi tank, lok soks grips, boomstick, macroline, so after i buy this, id be all set.
Oh yeah, i get 1200 dollars from work, and just saving it in the bank. Plus, july 1st is my birthday, so money comes in the back from that, and i just save it, and over time i get alot of money. I think theyre gonna let me sell it, maybe not this saterdya, but they will. Im gonna push though for this saterday, ill let u know what happen.

My parents were always pretty good about it. They always tried to talk me out of buying stuff, but they never forced anything on me. When I spend $160 on my first paintball gun a few years ago, they urged me to "not spend all my money in one place," but they still let me use their credit card. When I brought home my first AutoMag, they looked worried, but they didn't do anything. In fact, I found a kid who was selling a tricked MiniMag and a nitro system for $375 around the time I was graduating from High School, and they bought it for me as a graduation present.

I'd have to agree with your dad on this one. I think $1200 is way to much to spen on a paintball gun. And if you're getting a car you probably can't afford to spend that much if you have to worry about insurance and crap. Besides, the gun you have sounds good enough

Kay...I myself in the last 4 months have spent about 2g's on paintball....new gun, paint, litlle accessories...and your know what...its my cash....my parents don't even know I own the thing....but yet I talk about paintball all the time and stuff like that. But on another note, my dad thought it was supid to spend so much on paintball when I had a prolite...now I have a shocker....before I was spending like 30 bucks a week for paint know I am spending 50-60...but I did tell my dad that eventually I was gunna upgrade to a high end marker...and he knew the costs....I told him what they could do, efficiency and all that jazz and that I wanted to start getting really serious about the sport, tournies, big games,,,etc.....he understood that cause he know that if I were playing hockey I would probably be spending hundreds of dollars on equiptment....and if I were a goalie that the pads alone are like 5-6 hundred bucks, catcher-250-300,....etc....also when he would give me the little speach about I was spending too much on paint...like 40-50 bucks....I would just say..."hey I could go to the bar and spend just as much if not more and come home plastered....he say the light after that oneand now he really doesn't care as long as I'm not going into dept or anything...just sit down and talk to them....my dad said the same thing....why do you need a new gun...that one is fine and works great....I simply explained that yes it works good but it has its limitations....no paintball is not all about the gun but ti gives you a better advantage....I now that with my prolite that if I was getting hosed at from two or three positions that i was in some trouble as good as I was with it....but I just need something with a little more capabilities for certain situations...and I know some of you are thinking....its not the gun you just suck....ask people I play with....I don't suck....I would love to also have a phantom....and play with that, but not in a speed ball tourny where I am spending money to try and win the thing...I want every advantage that I can get....and thats what I explained to my dad and he was like well, its up to you then, he totally understood even more when I showed him some clips of speedball on warpig...his eyes were opened to what happens in a speedball game...so try some of this....really show him why you want and need this gun....and If he has made a really big puchase lately ask him if he really needed it, ask him if its reasonable to spend 40-60 grand on a car or SUV that will immidiately depreciate in value by 6 grand when he drives it off the lot...
Hope this helps

I have 2000 grand in the bank, my birthday is in less then a week, i have a 98 honda accord for a car, and my insurance is covered. ( i have a 2500 half tution scholarship to my school, and as long as i keep the aerage to mantian the scholarship, which is a 90, my parents will pay my insurance, and ive had it for 2 years, and had a 98 this year, so i still have it) the money isnt a problem at the moment, so why not spend it on a good setup ill have for a while? Paintball inst cheap, and i am starting to get seriously into it, so to me, spending this money is worht it.

Have you told your parents what you just posted? Maybe they would understand if you just shared w/ them how you have worked out everything...maybe they will see it that way.
but parents rarely admit their wrong..so maybe .. you just wait on getting a new gun and wait till u get your license..then buy the new gun :D

I can see spending whatever amount of money you want on a paintball gun if you are that into it. I've put...oooh now that I think about it...about $1400 into my gun without realizing it...
I'll probably be dropping about 800 on a paintball gun this fall. Im getting a Satin Blue Sleeper autococker with a Centerflag 68 3000 system with adj reg and and on off. My parents went nuts when I bid on one on ebay but they said wait till summer ends and we'll let you get a new gun so I withdrew my bid and am getting this gun at the end of summer. Its gonna be sweet. My parents aren't cool enought to let me get a black magic but I'd love to

thats awesome!! i wish my 2 brothers and dad would play w/ me! My little brother who is 10 hasn't played yet and i might get him to play, but hes a little ***** so maybe not. and my other brother, 18, played w/ a stingray II like 2 or 3 times, but he never really got into it.
he makes fun of me how i spend so much and how i shoot so much. he says he could take out 8 guys w/ less then 20 shsots, he says there is no need to shoot rapid fire...hhaha. hes like "i shoot the guy, not the rock hes behind" lol
my dad hates it but i see him watchign me from the observing box and i think hes beginning to like it. he might go w/ me. but im gonna take 4 or 5 of my guns up to iowa where my grandparents and uncles /cousins live. they live in the counry, so we are gonna make a cool course out of haybails and we're even gonna use a old barn thats torn down. its gonna be sweet. we'l play attack/defend using the barn, haybales, the tall grass, and the tracter stuff.
its gonna be sweet! my 2 uncles grandpa, dad, and brothers will prob play. i will light them up so bad!! ill have to rent some masks before we leave tho, since i only have 1 of course
i just wish that i could go in my backyard and play here in KC like they can in iowa.......sigh

Well I guess you want to move from blowback semis to high end semis... One thing.. Spending Half a thousand dollars on a blowback semi... is totally not worth it. Spending half a thousand on a high end semi is worth it. Spending a thousand on a high end semi is not worth it. If you make $3000+ dollars a month and do not have a car, living with parents.. then go for $1000 marker... however, if you do have a car, not living with parents... then unless you are making $4000 I would advise you not to buy the $1000 gun. Since you're living with your parents and don't have a car and I bet you're not making $3000 a month, don't even think about the $1000 gun.
I would go for a high end closed bolt semi marker for $500+ trust me.. no one will spend $500 for a spiffed up blowback semi, maybe at most $300 or less. And listen to your dad, at least you got a parent that's open minded about paintball and that's worth more than any top rated marker.
Sometimes, some people spend a lot of money on paintball marker and not so much on their car (which is worth a lot more than a paintball marker) It's called peer pressure.. you gotta stay at the top ahead of others. People who spend a lot of money on their marker.. wants the highest rate of fire and the coolest looking marker. A perfect marker for me is compact, light, shoots like an autococker but is much more reliable, and uses co2 (on a high end semi). But hey.. it's your decision on what you get.

I've got a suggestion. Nobody's gonna pay $500 for a spyder, no matter how tricked out you have it. They could buy a cocker AND a decent nitro system for that price, new!
I'd suggest you split up the parts. Sell them in packages, or separately on Ebay or paintball-auction.com
You'll probably get more money that way, and you'll also be able to keep stuff like the KAPP cradle if you want it. Remember, nobody's gonna pay $500 for a tricked spyder when they could get a cocker on nitro for that price. Split it up, and then you'll be rolling in the dough.

hah, w/ my parents that woudln't work.
they would just refuse to let me get my license and refuse to take me anywhere.
what i do, when i wanna go somewhere real bad, but my parents wont let me go anywhere....ill act like im addicted to the computer/nitendo/tv/etc. and then ill just say stuff that would suggest to them i have no friends and no life.
then they will usually let me go do something, even if im grounded. its so funny, just act depressed and that you have no friends and they will let you go to a party to make friends.
LOL works for me :D
