my friends raptor did the same thing the first time he shot it. The guy who owns the field we were at said he broke a seal or something. Maybe your just out of co2.

Sounds like you need to adjust the velosity (not to hi or it will just break paint) and or your running low on Co2 if it hisses with a fresh co2 you prolly have a bad cup seal

exact same thing happend to a friend of mine's raptor the first day he used it. worked fine for a while, but something in it f***ed up. Makes a loud Baraaaaap! noise. Sounds like its shooty 20 balls or so. Then his bolt got stuck. We never found out what caused it cuz we just took it right back to the store and bought an M98. Aw well, thats BE for ya. Sorry to hear ya got problems, wish i could help.

Try adjusting your velocity, and make sure you have lots of CO2 in your tank, just like all the other guys said.
In all seriousness, I know you don't want to hear this, but you really should get rid of your Brass Eagle gun right now. If you don't, you'll just want to upgrade it, and you'll end up with $200 worth of upgrades on a gun that's always broken.
Go buy a Spyder Compact 2000 or a Tippman 98 Custom. You'll be MUCH happier. You can trust me on that. The Spyder is only $90, and the Tippman is only $125. They are both infinitely better than the Avenger in so many ways. Don't spend one penny more on Brass Eagle equipment. It's a long road ahead if you do.

Dude, there is NOTHING wrong with your gun, you just ran out of CO2 is all. Keep trying and your gun will stop firing entirely, because you'll run all the way outta CO2. So dont worry about your gun, it's fine. And there is nothing wrong with owning a BE Avenger, they look like guns that are as good as any of the other blowbacks (not like the rest of the BE stuff)

either your cup seal is ruined or you are out of co2

ElTwitcho, the only reason I'm worried about the Avenger(besides the fact that it's a BE) is that it just came out, and I've been getting nothing but grief about it on message boards all over the country! Apparantly, all sorts of pieces have been breaking in the Avenger, and BE won't send any replacement parts to people. They won't even send you a cocking pin! I think it's a lot smarter to spend some money now, rather than having $200 worth of upgrades on a gun you can't even use.

Eltwitcho, its not neccessarily it. My friend was on a full tank. I've heard of simmilar problems with Piranhas (while doing my homework, cuz i just recently bought one) with a broken sear or something like that too.

Ok so the lesson of this story is, don't buy brass eagle guns! I don't see why people even buy brass eagle products after all the crap that they've said about them. Then u wonder how brass eagle can buy out companies like Viewloader and JT. Just pray Brass Eagle doesn't buy WDP and ruin the Angel like they've don everything else. Notice once Brass Eagle buys a companie they start going down hill. Like Viewloader Revolutions now feed slower then before. And JT had recalls on the Proteus. Coincidence? I think not.

Were the JT Excellerators pre- or post- BE? I'm still amazed that the 3.0 has had 20 reviews and every single one has been a perfect 10. That's gotta be one helluva product.

Post BE. The XCellerators just came out. Also, the reasons they all have perfect 10s is:
1. If you own an XCellerator, it's probably your first semi-auto. You'll post a perfect 10 just because it's so much better than the Talon you were using before.
2. It's a new gun, so it hasn't had time to break yet.
Personally, I think they're overpriced and haven't proven themselves to be good, reliable markers yet. Also, they don't have as many aftermarket upgrades, because they're the new kid on the block. I admit, they look really nice. However, if you're thinking of buying one, I urge you to wait 6 months, and then check out how well they've held up. Chances are, there's probably a few bugs for JT to work out before they have a winning marker. Personally, I'd suggest a Spyder or Custom 98 because they are proven, and have MANY more upgrades than a JT gun.

FSU: I don't agree with your logic for the perfect tens. Take a look at any semi gun that a newbie would get for the first time, and you never see all tens. I've also seen people say that they've owned Tippmans, Spyders, etc., yet the Excellerator beats them all. As for upgrades: you don't really need much more than a barrel and maybe a reg/x-chamber. You can get the barrel in Spyder threads, and the reg will fit no matter what. Most things after that are trivial, yet I've heard that many Spyder parts fit. However, you are right when you say that their durability hasn't been tested yet. That's a huge part of the quality of the gun.
Hatebreed: The relative success of the Excellerator shows that not all BE products are crap, and that not every product a company puts out after it has been taken over by BE is crap either.

That is a common problem with the Raptor, and the Avenger since they are just about the same design (internally) It could be one of two things. Your Co2 is low! not enough cocking pressure, but im pretty sure that is not the problem.
Check to Make sure you have a good amount of Air in your tank, then shoot it again. If it still does it then it's your Sear! Raptor sears (& probably the avenger too) are designed from a softer metal, well so it seems. The sear tends to wear down really FAST! on these BE guns. Replace the sear and it should be fine.

You make a good point, Wasimodo, but I think that the benefits of buying a proven gun still outweigh those of buying a new flashy toy that hasn't been proven durable yet.

i agree with FSUPball, most people who would buy a BE 3.0 is a newbie (no offense to nyone that has one) because anyone who knows a thing about paintball is to stay away from Brass Eagle. My "a" key is given me problems so i'll end this post right.....now

My raptor started doing that for a while too. Then, it broke, and hasn't fired a shot since. I've took it to every pro shop I could find, everyone who's halfway knowledgable, and even worked on it for hours. By now, even if I did fix it, I'd never use it. So, I just keep it in the truck. When I get pissed off at something, instead of throwing the Angel/something expensive...I grab the raptor, and well...y'know.
Yes, I take it a bit too serious sometimes, but just the way I grew up =/.

You're right, most people who buy BE are people who are new to the sport. But I remember a discussion awhile back on BE and the BE philosophy, and in this discussion it was mentioned that BE's main role in the paintball world is to provide cheap guns that anyone can buy. Yes, this means that the quality of most BE products will be less than satisfactory. However, I remember someone saying that they do it on purpose, because sometimes you have to sacrifice quality for cost to stay in business. This does not mean that BE is incapable of putting out a quality product. It simply means that most of their products are intentionally sub-standard, so anyone and their mother can get into the game.

Maybe your not out of c02, maybe your not screwing it in tight enough, it will have the same effect because I believe the pin valve is not compressed all the way.

I believe I said that. So don't try to make BE something it's not.

I agree with some of what Wasimodo said about BE putting out guns for everyone and their mother.
I think it IS good that they make the Talon and the Tiger Shark. Both of those guns serve one purpose: to get people into the game in an inexpensive way.
However, I think most of their lineup is just crap. The Avenger and the Raptor are made with the same bad quality of BE's other inferior markers, but they retail for the same price as GOOD guns, like Spyders and Tippmans. This is just playing off of newbies' lack of knowledge. That's why I don't like BE very much.
I recommend the Talon for your first game, so you can decide if you like the game, but I don't recommend any other guns by BE. I think a "starter" gun should be under $40. The only purpose it serves is to let you decide whether or not you want to get into the game. If you decide you DO want to play a lot, you deserve a GOOD marker, and not any of this raptor/avenger crap.
Guesswho?

Simple, you are out of CO2! I had the same problem the first time it happen to me, i got freaked until i learned to refill my CO2!

I'm not extremely knowledgable when it comes to BE products, and I didn't know the Avenger and the Raptor sell at the same price as other quality markers. FSU is right, that's simply taking advantage of newbies. BE should know its role and put out inexpensive, moderately working guns.

dont buy the Viewloader Gun either, it's made by brass eagle. I do give credit to brass eagle for something. Eversince they bought out JT the Flex 7 IZE has dropped about $15 in price.it used to be around 80 now its 60.

Its a simple problem, I had it once, when u shoot your gun co2 comes in your gun, but when u shoot too fast, the co2 doesnt have the time to get in your gun so it go full auto for a couple of second, when that happens just wait a few minutes for the co2 to recharge.
