thanks guys... i was actually screwing around with the stock barrel today (dont worry i have a back up :P).
I polished the inside and i decided to try to improve its look on the outside. So i sanded off the black paint and smoothed it out with some fine grit sandpaper. Now most of it is silver. I just left the tip where the porting is black. it looks a lot better in my opinion. I just wanted to know what it was made so i would know what the best thing to use to shine it up was.
hey. i was bored. ;)

i cut mine right behind the ports at the end of the barrel. seemed to make it more accurate cause the call would get caught on the port holes. its also a little louder to.

Yea,
Mine was breaking paint as well. So I sawed it off right in from of the mid-barrel ports. I crowned the edge and its works fine. Quite a loud pop sound. Good for scaring beginners during recball.
What I suggest is to wrap the area to be sawed with a piece of electrical tape. They saw through, tape and barrel, with a hack saw. The electrical tape will prevent unwanted dings and nicks. Then file down the end so its flat. They take some 400 grit sandpaper and a glass marble that sinks into the barrel opening but does not drop fully in. Lay the sandpaper on the barrel opneing and grind down with the marble in circular motions. It will bevel the barel on the inside. Take your time since will require some elbow grease. If you get tired, let it sit for an hour and then continue.
Finally remove the electrical tape and you are ready to go.
