I'm looking to upgrade my back-up tippman m98 with a barrel, but i do not like the flatline...
I've shot it before, but i was not satisfied with it.
if you could would you please list the top five or ten barrels for the m98. i'm not concerned about price, so anything goes... :)

Well obviously the best barrel is the Dye Boomstick. If you want more info on some of the good barrels go to the reviews of this website... look for the good ratings for the barrels w/ a good amount of points of view or reviews.

Boomstick if u want to spend the money. The ice cold works great on the m98 too, and is half the price. If u have the money, get the boomstick, if not, get the ice cold

Nice, get the 165 inch, its great. They sa the longer the boomstick, the better it is, but 18 inches is a lot to carry. Dont worry, the lenght wont effect the efficieny either, i run a lp setup with it, it owrks great

nice, if i were u, though id get the crosman laser sight, and put it on the sight rail. It great, especially for woods games in the spring and summer. Whats even better ifs if uve neotice after a while, ur paintball will start to drop from where started, u can set the laser to compentsate for that, so the farther u r, the lowere the sight angels, so ur paintball is always where the sight te is, its great!!

I had a m98 with a flatliner for about a year. I real enjoyed using it. I found that for the paint to go any farther than a normal barrel, had to be loose in the barrel, almost be able to role out it there wasn't paint stop. I guess that is the idea of the barrel, the paint kind of roles in the bend of the barrel, witch makes the backspin. Because of the paint/barrel bore match or lack of match it did seem to have a slightly larger grouping. Not more than 2-3 inches greater than spyders and the like shooting all sorts of barrels at about 100 feet. But I thought that the distance more than made up for the accuracy. In general I real liked it. I borrowed to a friend for his first time paintballing. He nagged he for a month until I would sell it to him.

I had a flatline for 6 months. I think it will suit you if you like to hang out in the back and pick people off. Bad thing is how loud it is. If you play up close it is a little loud. I found the best paint for the barrel are marbs.
If you want a long range barrel that is not loud get the Dragon Series 2-Piece, 14Inch, Model98 119.99 at IIsports.com . You will have a real tight group at 100 feet. The range is only a little behind the flatline. I liked both barrels.
