Here's the upgrades you should do, in this order:
1. Get a new barrel - If the J&J is $45 for a Spyder, get one from http://www.shop4paintball.com for $43. That store has much cheaper shipping costs, and gets your stuff to you FAST.
2. Get an expansion chamber setup. They sell entire setups made by Kingman, but I'd suggest a better expansion chamber. Get a 6-stage expansion chamber if you can, and if you can't, get an ACI 4 stage, or a Benchmark expansion chamber.
You'll also need to get a bottomline setup to use an expansion chamber, unless you buy the complete setup kit. You do NOT need a vertical adapter for the screw-in ex. chambers because you already have one on the Compact.
3. If you're still chopping paintballs in half in your powerfeed, get a 12 volt Revolution hopper. That will completely fix the problem.
4. Get a new trigger frame. The plastic one can break; it's happened to a lot of people I've known. You also can't put a big drop-forward on your plastic frame because it'll break.
5. Get a drop-forward. I suggest the Psycho Ballistics Pro Style drop-forward.
Now, I'll tell you what all this stuff does.
The barrel will make you a LOT more accurate, and a lot more quiet.
The expansion chamber will prevent your gun from freezing up on CO2. This also increases your accuracy, and gets you more shots per CO2 tank.
The Revolution has a motor inside the hopper which stirs up the paintballs when they get stuck in the hopper. This makes sure you never chop paintballs in your powerfeed.
The new trigger frame will let you fire much faster (if you get a new trigger assembly with it), and it's a lot tougher, so you can put a Drop-Forward on it.
The drop-forward makes your gun lighter and more compact, making it a LOT easier to play with. You can even shoot one-handed in a tough situation.

actually you prolly want to bypass the x-chamber and get a regulator. they are a lot more beneficial than an x-chamber as far as performance goes.
Hsuve has a whole upgrade sheet, i'll try and find it.
