um.. this thread is for all those who don't know.. including me.

What are .62 caliber paintballs and why are they so sought after?

can they be shot from a standard .68 caliber marker? special barrels?

Ah yes, the days of .62 caliber paintball.....

Anyways, the 62 was the precursor to the 68's which we all play with today. All paintball guns used to shoot 62 caliber. I'm not sure why they changed it; maybe 68s fly better because they're heavier. Or maybe they leave a bigger mark. Or maybe they're easier to manufacture. Whatever the case, there was an industry-wide switch many years ago. All 62 caliber guns became instantly obsolete. Tippman stopped making their SMG, and started making the SMG-68.

62 caliber paintballs are probably sought after because the real veterans who held onto their old guns want to play with them again. They're next to impossible to find these days. A canadian manufacturer was making them until about 2 years ago, then they went out of business. Now you basically can't find them ANYWHERE. The only place I've seen them is on Ebay.

62 caliber paintballs will NOT fire well out of your gun at all. Unless you have an ancient 62 caliber gun, they are useless to you.
