My very first paintball game took place in a indoor arena with my brother and girlfriend, There were only 3 other poeple there at the moment (being pretty early in the morning) so we played them. It started so i run behind a bunker and start firing and my brother is to the left of me and my girlfriend to the right she gets hit pretty quick. Then i saw someone midfield and i had a open shot so i fire 2 or 3 shots and hit him in the arm..... It was my brother, I didnt see him move to midfield. Then i had to play against 3 poeple all by myself i tryed to fight them off but in the end one of them bunkered me.

A valuable lesson can be taken from that: identify your intended target first, then shoot. Leave the "shoot first, ask questions later" to the Clint Eastwoods and John Waynes.
It is a common mistake, especially if he was dumb enough to move up without calling for you to cover him but learn from it and you'll do better. My buddy got plastered by his brother (who was on his team against me) while sighting me up...I couldn't see him in the tree (literally, in the tree, we were playing at a farm) and he was getting ready to light me up when I saw his brother and heard him yelling "surrender" to him from right behind him. I opened up, nailed his brother but he was out of the tree like a daggoned cat. Happens at my local field a lot too, that is why right before the game I memorize something about the guys on my team. I have even been known to put a distinguishing smear of mud or something on their shoulder to let me know they are on my team (especially when you get brothers who look alike and split to go against one another armed with the same mask and same gun). Look for something that is distinguishable quickly and easily, something you can look for and you won't have any friendly fire mishaps, or at least fewer.

If ya go out to play with 10 guys bring along 5 white rags or torn sheets divide up into your two teams and have one team wrap the rags around their arms or hopper to ID them from each other. It's simple and it works!

I saw the title and becamse somewhat alarmed... :paranoid:
haha, I remember my first time... I crawled the whole time thinking I was a sniper... now I'm a hardcore front guy... good times...
here's some quotes from the first time I played:
"Where do you screw the damn tank in?"
"My gun won't fire" (it wasn't cocked)
"why won't anything come out?" (No paintballs in the hopper)
"Why doesn't it go anywhere when you fire with no barrel?"
ahh... I love the olden days :)
