If we don't watch out, this sport will start be banned badly.
Some people are stupid like this one guy in my class
He told me that me that he had a avenger and was going to get a spyder soon.
A week later he tells me(today) that he had to sell his Avenger and probably won't be allowed to get a Spyder. This is why. For some reason he didn't want to play paintball with a mask. He ended up getting shot beetween his two eyes on the nose. I asked him how stupid can you get. You could've gone blind. Theirs a reason they have masks.
People like this are what give paintball a bad title. Like it's dangerous. No one gets hurt with a good mask on.
Please tell me this guy is the stupidest guy ever. He's 14 and should realize the mask is there for your own protection. It's not some sort of money scandle

Kids are lazy, cheep, and often think they're invincable.
My faince's son was shot in the eye playing without a mask. The only thing that saved him is that it hit the brim of his cap and broke before it hit. 2 weeks later, he did it again. :dunce:
The big problem is that there are no paintball safety courses. Much like gun safety, paintball safety can prevent stupid injuries.
Kids who have handeled a gun at a young age and were taught how are somewhere in the neighborhod of 5 times LESS likely to actualy be involved in a gun accident at home. Parrents however, often don't pay enough attention to what their kids are buying and doing, and they don't go over safety with their kids.
There's a reason the most important piece of equipment in paintball is your mask.

True. I have found kids that have little or no Firearm backround to be the most at risk. Muzzle dicipline taught to me by my father and his father keeps me from injuring people. One kid we used to play with got shot in the eye by his brother, with a paintball. Luckly he only had temperary blindness from the Talon, but Im afraid if it had been a more powerful gun he would no londer be around...:( We need something along the lines of a hunter saftey course like required by law (at least in my state) to get a gun or hunting liscence. They could easily be given at fields for free and would help the sport as a whole.

Agree totally on the parents neglect on what their kids are doing. If the parents don't give a crap, why should the kids?
What kills me is you see kid riding a bike with out a helmet and Mom and Dad freak out, ten minutes later the kid is running around with their BE Stingray with out a masks on and Mom and Dad act like it's not a problem.
I believe in lead by example and if I see some one being stupid I stop them but if your a parent you can't expect me to stop your little Johny from getting his eye shot out because your a failure as a parent. If dad spends a few bucks more on a Stingray and mask for himself when he buys little Johny his stuff and wears his masks the first time they go out and play he sets an example that Johny will follow when he plays with out dad.

or we can do three things
1)require a parent or guardian to be with any person under 18 when buying a marker. the parent MUST be taught the saftey of playing paintball, along with the child, for atleast 10-15 minutes.
2)play at a real field on your first time with your kid/dad. that enforces the rules right off the bat/.
3)STOP SELLING MARKERS AT ANYTHING BUT A PAINTBALL SPECIFIC STORE. <------------THIS is what kills the community.

Hey if it keeps people safe I would put up with a little hassle.

There should be a national field registry, and to play you should need to have a membership card. And have to pass their saftey course. Just like at a shooting range.

yea but wal-mart is where most ppl discover paintball thou ...
but that would stop a lot immature acts
i think you should have to take a test about paintball marker safety and then w/ that license and parent u should b able to buy markers
also if ur under 18 like me, u can't buy paintballs w/o parent approval, w/ dis permit u should b able to buy paintballs @ least:D
what do u guys think?:D :D :D
but some adults act like crazy kids
like ******* who r causing us problems:pissed:

Yes sir...
However, i don't think they could get it banned for things like people not wearing a mask...i mean it clearly states ALL over the gun directions/box to wear a paintball specific mask. So i don't think they could, besides, bowling is more dangerous then paintball :P

my god, my thoughts are, if you are dumb enuf to want to play paintball willingly with no goggles and have full knowledge that u could go blind, then u shouldnt blame anybody else if u get shot in the face

Cocker you realize you are in a country where you can get over a million dollars for having your coffee burn you, or for not knowing smoking is bad for you.
You live in a "blameless society" where nothing is ever YOUR FAULT. All it takes is one lawyer and all hell breaks loose. The paintball company is to blame, the paint was to hard, the markers shoot the balls to fast it's the manufactures fault, on and on.

I consider myself to be a very good role model.
I've been shooting pellet guns and stuff since I was 10. Also I took my firearm and hunter ed courses. I've been hunting for about 6 months and find myself safer then most people whove been doing it for years. (I'm 14, legal age to hunt in Canada). What really ticks me off is when I'm out playing backyard paintball and see a guy with his mask off (fog or dirt) or just to see something more closely. I almost freak when I see this. Here I am ready to shoot when I notice him with his mask off.
Backyard Paintball is the founder of this sport. Us kids need it to be able to play. Most are unemployed and to go to a field each time isn't a choice. One thing I notice a lot is people not putting there barrel plugs in. When we have masks on it doesn't matter but when were preparing our guns (air and paint) I make sure everyone has it in.
I'm willing not to play with a person because they aren't safe. Maybe he doesn't care about it but what about the innocent like me or you guys.
How can people even do this without a mask. I find myself scared to even look down the barrel of the gun with my mask on (I don't do this with actual guns). I do that sometimes when a paintball just broke just to see if any shell parts are left in it.
So next time you see an unsafe person who doesn't even try, just walk away and maybe just to have you come back and play they will become safer and funner to play with.
