what exactly is turbo, my friend seems to think that it is still single shot but if you pull the trigger 4 times in a second it shoots 8 instead of four, this is not single shot, this is two shots for every pull. Is he just stupid?

It still has single shot in every mode. its a bushmaster. this is what Indian Creek says about it

"Semi Auto, 3 shot, 6 shot burst or full-auto modes stops when the trigger is released, allowing single shot firing in any mode."

turbo is

when you pull the trigger a ball comes out and when you release it a few more come out

Thats Auto Responce. Auto Response mode fires once the trigger is pulled and once when it is released.

Turbo Mode. To engage this mode you must maintain a sequence of cycles within a pre-determined timing rate, and as long as the repetition is maintained, the mode with remain engaged.

But if the pre-determined timing rate is 4bps and u shoot 3 then it will still be a semi because turbo wouldn't be active. Does this make any sence to anyone other than me?

Turbo usually (SP did it different, that's a long explanation) does this. If you pull the triger twice at a rate of 7 bps or more, then on the second shot turbo adds another ball to it. And so on, every 2 nd shot will come at as 2 balls, hence a 2 shot burst

Here it is a little easier....turbo is for every 2 triggerpulls when it is active ...3 balls fire after the set bps rate that kicks the marker into turbo is reached

For smartparts shockers...it is different...they wanted to try and defeat the full auto rul so when a shockers turbo mode kicks in it gets the gun firing to its max bps as long as you maintain the rhythm of pulling the trigger....on mine...once the turbo kicks in i just have to hoold the trigger down....its fun...but yeah....
