I played in woods all the time in south FL. MAKE SURE it is not in a residential area though. I played in the woods near a nursery, and near a large road. Just be sure that nobody is going to jog through, or that a stray ball may hit something. Basically, don't be an ***. And yes, its illegal. Its called "outlaw" for a reason :)

no, it is not illegal if you are on your own property, although if the cops find you on property thats not urs then ur gun can be confiscated and u can get into some trouble

If you're playing on property not your own, find out who the owner is, and get their permission first. This is a basic courtesy, and shows respect to the landowner. Trust me, you'll help earn some respect for our sport, and for yourself as well.

If it's public land...well...check with your local police first.

Oh. And this is off topic for the Tippmann forum. Moving this to General Paintball talk...

yes it is illegal
but i'm not gonna travel into the next state just to play paintball! 1.5 hours away
i play in my own woods but u have to walk like @ least 1/4 of a mile in b4 u can start playing and mark off the playing area
besides y would u show ur gun in public?
that's y they have bags and stuff
i've started to build a fence so i can traget practice in my backyard
my friend lives near the dump and no one lives close enough 2 him so we made our own speedball feild there
if u really wanted to make ur own speedball feild
and live in a somewhat populated neiborhood u can ask the police if u can make ur own speedball feild and show them how "SAFE" it is by asking ur feild owner how to create one

Just a little story I have a bunch of friends with private land and we play on their land but one day after playing a farmer by one of them had cows who had gotten loose, so us being the nice guys stopped and helped him, he is now letting us play on his land which is the best spot in the area.! Just be nice and ask it will do you wonders

It really depends on the area you live in how it will be handled. I know some guys who play at a "park" (the woods drop away from the park a ways down into a gully, nobody has gone back there except a few teenagers drinking) and they play for hours on end going rampant with firepower and the cops have never gone after them, but I would imagine that if somebody came by and was not familiar with the sounds of real guns you could have a pair of cops that would be sent to investigate and probably it would deemed illegal...I honestly don't agree with the practice of playing on public land because of the inherent risk but I am not going to stop anybody from doing it that is for sure. I play on private farm land at times or I go to the local field. Besides, the cops around here are a bit jumpy...

As for showing your gun in public, that is plain stupid...a cop can confiscate the weapon if he thinks that you pose a danger to the order of the community so play smart.

Quick story...
Me and some friends were playing on some state property in the far backwoods about a month back. Me and my friends have our own field setup with bunkers, etc. in its own distinct and secluded area of the woods.
Well it just so happens that the newbie accidentally shot a "civilian" in the shoulder when a guy with his dog strolled onto our field to see what we were doing.
Before we could even offer an apology to him, he flipped out, pulled out his cell and called the police on us. Not knowing what to do, me and my friends pack up all our gear and high-tail it out the back entrance to the woods without anyone seeing us.
We snuck back a few hours later just to see what was going on, and there were 2 state police cars and a park ranger coming the area looking for us, but we were never linked to it.
It was a real scary situation. I guess now we need to find a new place to playfrom now own...damn newbie (jk).
