It's the truth, Paintball was proposed to the Olympic community and the results were......

This information came straight from "Popular Mechanics" magazine, October 2002 issue. Rich Taylor, the author of this article, interviewed Sonny Lopez of Worr Games. It is expected that in the next meeting of the Olympic board, Paintball will be passed with ease because of the rapid growth of the sport every year. Sonny is quoted as saying, "The future is 7-man, thats probably what they will play in the Olympics." Basically the article gave a very good persona to paintball by describing the team work necessary to play. The article explained what paintball was and how a basic marker works. the article helped explain how the bolt creates an air tight seal for the compressed air, it stated that paintball isn't exactly point, pull, and elimination. It described how the lobbing path plays a very important role and how mastering it can make or break your shot. It showed how a simple gust can completely mis align your shot. It went on to describe the clothing that was worn and the purpose for it. They also showed that paintball isn't a sport that can be cheaply played. They compared it to a motorcycle industry, where the whole concept is personalization. Right about here Sonny made a little discrete commercial for the 'Cocker.
One of the more interesting facts about paintball I learned in this article is where the word "marker"came from in relation to paintball. Cattle herders use to use a crude form of paintball gun to "mark" cattle, and certain colors ment certain things. One day some farmers got a little bored and started shooting each other. Friends joined in, and soon enough it was being played as a fun little joke. From here the para-millitary started getting into it. And soon enough the Army put it in to basic training. From there most of you know the story about how a couple of wise guys took the markers and made a little business out of it, and were bought out by a bigger company.
I thought i would share this with you all just to get all you tourney players out there (like me) to start considering the Olympics as a possibility. It really didn't give much more information then that. But also, most importantly, it gave an EXCELLENT persona and overview to paintball.
my ramblings are done.
