One sick day off from work could be spent sending everything back, c'mon that's no excuse. Heck, do it on 4th of July, or Christmas, or any holiday you get off, if it solves your problem. And like gen said, the least he could do is reply to people's e-mails and messages telling them what's up (without being a jerk, which really worsens his problem.. why not talk nicely and try to win people's patience over to you? He's obviously taking out all his frustration on people who paid him to do work.)
