if you just poured water over them then the lens sounds to be defective. If you soaked them for a long period of time and have the double lens they are often separated by a peice of thin foam which could quickly soak up a great deal of water and thus let the water in between the lenses and perhaps is more along the lines of user error. Just MHO, would have to see the lens to know for sure.
