The newer Spyders are really nice. Not like the older versions. It seems here lately they are more reliable/consistent. I own a Pilot 08' and it works like a charm. The only thing I've done with it, is thrown a stiffi barrel on it, got a lower profile feed-neck, and had a friend do a nice magnetic trigger job on it.
The only issue I've had with it though, is it doesn't seem to like Co2. So I am in the process of getting an Empire Carbon Fiber 68/4500 HPA Tank. With the Co2 the bolt seems to lock up. Almost like it jams. So I have to contently re-cock it. Nice clean air should do the trick.
If I were you, I would just simply upgrade the barrel, make sure you're using compressed air, and look into replacing the stock feed-neck with something with a better profile.
Good luck dude,
