Recommendations please...

Hey I am a major noobie to the world of paintball and I need some recommendations. Me and my brother are thinking of perchasing two Spyder Imagine refurbished markers from Amazon (62$) for competition with friends. I would like some pointers about buying masks, hoppers, co2 bottles and any other equipment you think I should have. We would like to keep everything under 150$ each (including markers) but we can go up to 200 if necessary.

Thanks in advance,
Cyrus

Well, the Imagine would be good for your price. If you want to keep it as low as possible, get:

$20 masks from proshop
$30 Un-Anti-Siphoned CO2 (about $5 more to get Anti-Siphoned [which is better])
Try to get the cheapest electric hopper you can find.

Ok thanks for the tips. What is the advantage of getting Anti-Siphoned over Un-Anti-Siphoned?

PS which website is proshop? I did a google search but I keep getting golf equipment sites.

Anti-siphoned means youre getting less liquid CO2 and more gas coming from the tank into your gun. This helps keep your pressure, and therefore your accuracy, more consistent. You can usually get a 20oz tank for like $20-$25. And, if you get the new Blue Rhino ones you can just take the empty one in and swap it for a full one.

Oh, and by proshop he means the shop at your local paintball field. If you dont have one, just go to Wal-Mart(i cant believe i just suggested that) or Academy Sports or whatever you do have, and pick up a cheap mask.

I am an inch away from sigging that
Mackinturk explained it good.

For the price of getting A/S IMO it should be the first upgrade anyone with CO2 should get.

If your just going to be messing around with friends and stuff and might quit after awhile, or if your thinking of buying this for a tourney gun and getting prize money and getting a better gun dont get A/S. If you do you cant swap it to another gun. It has to be specifically put on your tank for that ASA. Its also good to do if you plan on keeping your marker Bone stock, as a New ASA might pump Liquid into the gun. For the hopper, get a Revy or a Richo, sans the AK. You dont want a continuous feed, then it will be noisy and annoying. A used co2 tank could be had for $10 or less.

I highly suggest ordering online instead of buying your stuff at a proshop. You can find stuff for so much less money.

But around here, If I buy stuff at a proshop then They do repairs/instalition for free. For example, di$ knows I stripped the screws on my Ion. Since I bought it at my Proshop, they are removing the stripped screws, removing the old ASA, AND installing my On/Off free of charge... Sweet.

Thanks again for the tips guys. Would a Ricochet Rhino be a good choice for a hopper? I can get them for 19$ of amazon.

Not really. A Revy would be faster and not constantly be agitating. Thats annyoying and wastes batteries...

Is there any difference between these two other then size?

Also, what kind of performance increase can I expect with those barrels?

No. The only difference between the two is that the Backman holds 220 paintballs and the Frontman holds 180. For an Imagine, this hopper is perfect...it caps at 14 and the hopper does so at 15. If you noticed in my sig I'm getting the Backman.

EDIT: I use one on my Rodeo...They are great barrels for the price and I've had maybe 5-8 chops in a year using it...In part that the paint was old and the velocity was turned up all the way. They look good. I suggested them because they are good and inexpensive..As of now...you won't need a complete barrel kit.
