Violence + Video Games

So, I have to write a speech on how Video Games do NOT influence kids to preform violent crimes by tomorrow.

Anyone have any links or sites that have good factual information?

Yes, I've searched Google, and Yes I've found some good sites already. I just need some more.

Thanks in advance.

Actually there's a new study that shows violent video games do cause kids to be more violent. I saw the article on ign.com or gamepro.com(can't remember which)

Jack Tomphson too, but unfortunately, calling someone retarded doesn't get me a good grade.

there can never be any proof yet that when you grow up to violent video games you will be violent too. the least recent game that actually had realistic violence in it too provoke this behavior was made like 15 years ago.

Just take in a Gameboy, play it for a bit. Then pic up a baseball bat and not hit anyone. Repeat with classmates

Gameboy makes me want to throw round objects at animals, and later make them do battle.

Although not reliable, just wikipedia Violence in Video games, it'll give you some good source web pages. That, and Jack Thompson. I had to write something similar, 2-3 years ago in 8th grade. If you want it, just PM me. It's not good, to be honest, nor is it very long.

Omg, I had said something just like that on pbn earlier. I said "I'm a pokemon fan, but I don't go around throwing rocks at squirrels and yelling, 'I CHOOSE YOU PICKACHU!!!!1!!'"

I had to do the same kind of report before. Here is a link to a good source, a bit long though but loads of info... It mostly deals with media violence affecting kids but alot of it is related to games...

If you have access to any sort of online database you can search psychological journals for articles...most say that there is NO correlation between violent video games and violent behavior.

Let me ask this:

After the initial study, did they then have the kids playing NFS play MoH? That could merely be coincidence, and I won't be convinced until they subject BOTH parties to violent games, instead of just assuming.

Violent video games make some kids violent and most kids arent affected. Just like corporal punishment can affect SOME kids negatively and most of them it won't.
A Doom geek brutally mutilated a woman a few years ago...
