Think about sex, you'll get it. LOL
To be serious, male threaded fittings screw into female threaded fittings. Your tank is male threaded, your bottom line asa is female threaded.

Think about this for a second:
You know when you screw your tank in? the bottle threads on the tank are male. The asa is female. Now throw in sex to this question and you'll figure it out

I'm guessing you are looking at male and female regs?
Male regulators are vertical regs (such as CP, AKA Sidewinder, etc) and female regs are ASAs that have built-in regs (stock Spyder VS series, Stock Mini, female palmer's stabalizer, etc).
When using a female regs, your air is already regulated by the time it gets to the macro hosing or SS braiding, so for a foregrip, you can use a gas-thru grip instead of another male reg.

And for future refernece when you say "Omg, I feel like such a noob, omg I'm such a noob" just makes you seem more like one. Just flat out ask the question, we won't care, half of PBR doesn't know the dfference between a male and female reg.
